Details

Trazodone is a SARI, or serotonin antagonist/reuptake inhibitor. It appears to work by releasing serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that regulates behavior, awareness of pain, appetite, body temperature, movement, and function of the lungs and heart. Dogs showing complusive behaviors, chronic pain, separation anxiety and situational fears like fireworks or thunderstorms are often prescribed Trazodone to keep them calm. Similarly, cats can experience generalized anxiety disorders and the same situational fears as dogs. Trazodone is prescribed, as a short-term anxiety medication, for anxiety and aggression during certain situations where the cat experiences increased levels of anxiety and stress, such as being transported in a pet carrier.

My little Dixie gets so freaked out during thunder storms and we've had our share this summer. So these pills (I give her half) really calm her down. As soon as she senses or hears the rumble, she comes to me with "that look". I ask her if she needs a pill and she goes right to my medicine chest where I keep them. Then she runs to the kitchen to wait for her little ball of cream cheese with the pill in it. She's so smart she just amazes me. Glad I have Chewy to rely on...the service is excellent

Excellent Solution and Customer Service!

I have three (3) large Labrador Retrievers and the youngest is extremely anxious about going to the vet, and despite extensive training, continued to be overly aggressive towards my lab who is very docile. My vet recommended this as a solution for times when a vet visit is needed and/or the “playfulness” turns into my docile dog being unable to tolerate the aggressive playfulness. Thankfully, this is a win-win for my household. I don’t like having to resort to medication, however this solution has been so helpful for my fur babies. Chewy has streamlined the process wonderfully. Thank you!

We historically ordered this item directly from our Vet. Our Golden gets anxious ahead of his Vet visits (yes, somehow he knows). We prescribed according to Vet directive (dosage night before followed by morning of) & the meds seemed to have minimal effect. The mg dosage is the same but not sure the generic is of the same quality or potency.

This was my very first time ordering medication and prevention for my pet Quincy through Chewy and I could not have asked for a better experience. I give it a full 5 stars and a 10 out of 10. The process was simple and stress free. All I had to do was provide my veterinary information and Chewy took care of the rest by contacting them directly for approval on both our heartworm prevention and trazodone. I really appreciated how seamless everything was. To make it even better, our package arrived at our doorstep in just two days which was much faster than I expected. I did not notice the side effect of aggression was listed, because I did not read your info about the med right away. Winnie had used this med for anxiety when we left, & purchased it from our vet who never told us the side effects. Thank you for listing aggression as a side effect. Even if it is rare, it should be listed at the top. Our Winnie became extremely aggressive when she was in this daily. Thank you for giving info on the drugs & for the easy way to purchase them. However, I wish the wait time coukd be shortened.
