Choosing the Right Insulin Syringe
Your veterinarian may prescribe U-40 or U-100 insulin for your pet, and it is critical to use the corresponding syringe for proper dosing.
U-40 Insulin Syringes
The “U” refers to units of active insulin, and U-40 insulin has 40 units of insulin per milliliter of liquid. This more soluble type of insulin is designed specifically for cats and dogs, and you must always use a U-40 insulin syringe, which is smaller and has a red cap, to administer it.
U-100 Insulin Syringes
U-100 insulin has 100 units of insulin per liquid milliliter, so it has 2.5 times the insulin as U-40 insulin by volume. If your vet prescribes this type of insulin, it is essential to administer it using U-100 syringes, which are larger and have an orange cap, to ensure proper dosing.

Quality control issues between batches
I've been using this product pretty much since my senior boy was diagnosed with diabetes last year. And up until 2 orders ago, I had no complaints about the product whatsoever. Unfortunately however, with the last order I noticed the plunger on the syringe breaking apart, rendering that syringe unusable. Didn't think anything of it, but then that same issue happened more often with the latest order - I go to fill the syringe, and the little plastic disc on the plunger disintegrates. I do not handle the syringe roughly, and I do not believe this to be somehow Chewy's fault. The product has always arrived sealed in a box with other protective materials, with the syringes in their individual bags in the storage compartment of the container. If anything, this issue appears more down to a quality control problem - have reached out to the manufacturer and they offered to send a replacement and said I should return any unused syringes to them for investigation. Very pleased with that response and will definitely continue to use the product - the convenience of being able to very easily dispose of used syringes is unmatched by any other product that I've come across!

Diabetic Kitty
My cat is newly diabetic & these are the syringes the vet has prescribed her. I specifically chose this version of the U-100s so that I could easily give the box to my vet clinic for safe disposal. Bonus is that the needles are are so thin my cat doesn’t even notice when I’ve given her a shot.

Syringes - Cat with Diabetes
The syringes purchased through Chewy.com are more compact, sturdy, and has a slightly smaller needle that lends itself to providing an injection of insulin to our cat. The others we've had used were too long. And the added benefit to this purchase is the container in which the syringes were delivered to us can also be used for disposal after use. This is a great concept, thank you UltiCare and Chewy.

These are great because they’re disposable back into the container they come in. I also can buy them for half the price of what the vet was selling them for. I highly recommend this product.
