Will this hurt my dog if she licks her paw pads?

Answer by ChewySep 01, 2025
This gel should not be ingested. Rub a thin layer of gel completely into the skin so that no excess medication is visible.

What is the medication in this “medicated gel”?

Answer by ChewyJul 08, 2025
The active ingredient in Solva-Ker Gel is salicylic acid.

Dodger has had keritin build up on all paws with 2 of them so bad he actually grows nails out of the bottoms of the pads. I ordered this after using several other items (paw balm, coconut oil, bag balm)to no avail. It began to work the 1st application. No smell, easy to apply, doesn't take much. His paws were softer day one, we're now on day 5 and he's a new dog. He's even leaving the patio to go potty in the rocks again!

My dog recently had an abscess on his leg with no apparent entrance wound. The vet said that possibly the calloused elbow cracked and allowed germs inside which left him with a staph infection that had to be laced and expressed. The vet also suggested I use this product to help keep the callous more supple in hopes of avoiding future incidents like this

Burned my dog's nose

I put it on my dog's nose for some minor blemishes and it burned my dog's nose. Lost some hair and is tender now. Too strong of a medication for what I needed.
