Fleas rise to the top of your pet's coat as they die, so consider it a triumph if you start seeing more fleas at first, after treating your pet. If you’re still seeing fleas after application, it may be because your pet has picked up new fleas from the environment, which may include other pets, surfaces and outdoor areas. It may take up to 30 days to break the entire flea life cycle. Additionally, you should also treat sources of new fleas (i.e., carpet, yard, etc.) to ensure complete flea control.

This shampoo somewhat seems to help the flea issue but not resolve it. I gave my husky a bath with it and followed directions by massaging the shampoo in my dogs fur and waiting 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing. I did see some fleas come off my dog and had good hopes for it. Within an hour after his fur dried he was scratching again and still noticed fleas that was still alive on my dog. I repeated the process daily until I used up all the shampoo and still had the same poor results. Also as a counter measure I cleaned the house (sweeping) and washed any type of material he came in contact with (couch covers, bed sheets and blankets etc.) to help reduce the flea population. I also used the Vets best flea and tic spray on my husky dog and furniture and carpet areas with still the same results with fleas appearing still on my husky dog. I dont know if it is because my dog being a husky has very thick fur and these Vets Best products has issues working with a type of thick fur. Overall this Vets Best shampoo product is a poor product. Dawn dish washing detergent would have done the same thing. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because it seemed to relieve a small portion of the flea issue and it gave a small relief to my husky and left his fur soft and clean. I will not buy again. I will look for something else or take my dog to the vet
It works. Smells nice. Hobie had a few noticeable fleas in spite of Frontline plus. We did everything to rid the home and our 1 yo labradoodle of fleas. We were using Dawn but this worked better. No more fleas. Also made a change to Credelio oral medication.
We have 3 dogs. I washed each one with this shampoo and found fleas on each. I'm not sure if the fleas are dead or just neutralized, but they're not moving. I always pop them between my fingernails just to make sure they're dead. The shampoo seems to rinse clean without residue, so I don't think it has a lasting effect. I washed my dogs after 4 days and found more fleas. It seems to be gentle enough on their skin for frequent washing. However, I did notice my hands had dry skin afterwards. I'm washing 3 dogs consecutively, so my hands are in longer contact with this product than each dog is. Their fur is always soft afterwards. Overall I like the product.
Let me start by saying how impressed I am with the Vet's Best Advanced Strength Flea & Tick Dog Shampoo. As a pet owner, I've tried my fair share of flea and tick shampoos, but this one truly stands out from the rest. The first thing that caught my attention was the pleasant scent. It's not overpowering like some other shampoos I've used in the past. My furry friend actually enjoys bath time now! But what really blew me away were the quick results. Within just a few applications, I noticed a ...
It only worked a little as it only killed a few fleas but my dog is still coved in fleas I wouldn't recommend.
Or scratches from dermatitis because it has some sort of mint in it and it burns. My dog had a little hot spot on his foot and it was clearly uncomfortable. It did kill the fleas.
Once I received this shampoo, I was concerned about the warning labels about being to harsh on pets and people that I decided not to use it.
This Product didn't kill the fleas, Not at all, Just like I did with the flea spray, captured several fleas in a jar added the shampoo in the jar with the fleas, exposing the fleas to the product... Guess What? Nothing Happened.. STAY AWAY, TOTAL GARBAGE
I found this shampoo to wash out thoroughly which is a good thing. Residue results in skin irritation and itching. I had to use this shampoo once a week to be effective. I also vacuumed the carpet and washed and sprayed their bedding. It takes diligent work fir a month to get rid of fleas.
Great long lasting smell and my dogs fur is so much shinier!!
