Our cat was diagnosed with diabetes. Our vet suggested a two-prong approach which consisted of: 1) Start with a high quality injectable insulin shot for several months and then retest for diabetes. Many times, in cats, you can reverse the diabetes. 2) At the same time, change our cat's diet to a high quality, high protein cat food. The vet suggested we try Wellness Core RawRev Grain-Free Original Recipe with Freeze-Dried Turkey Bits. We followed the two step approach and our cat's diabetes has in been in remission for two years! No more insulin shots have been given since the initial period of several months of shots. We have stayed with the Wellness CORE RawRev Original Recipe product. The only complaint I have is that product has a lot of "fine material" in with the normal size kibble. I have a mesh screen that I use to "sift" out the "fine material" from the normal size kibble pieces. Our cat likes it much better without the "fine material" in his bowl....
This was our go-to for the last two-three years. It took our oldest cat some getting used-to (the smell and taste was not to her liking), but she eventually took a liking to it and stopped her daily vomiting (which the previous food seemed to be causing). However, the last three or so bags have been super powdery & the turkey bits look much darker and drier than they used to. At first we thought it was just a weird/bad batch...but now it's been consistently this way. Our cats won't eat all the powder and we're basically throwing out 1/4 of the bag because of this. This stuff is pricey to be throwing out ANY amount of food. We're now on the hunt to switch out their food.
My cats would not eat this. It just sat and sat in their bowls. Not sure why. Gave them their previous food and they were all over that. Switched back to this for another try, and again - it just sat. Ended up giving it to a friend with outside cats that will eat anything. Be warned - it may be great food "on paper" but if your cats won't eat it, it's kind of pointless.
My cats liked the freeze dried turkey better than the small kibble. It is Grain Free which is great !! It didn't sit well with them but that is case by case just like anything, right? I've gotten Wellness CORE wet food and they love it!! Overall a great Brand/products though this particular item didn't work out, I highly recommend the brand and I personally will continue to purchase the TASTERS and WET FOOD. Thank you!
I PURCHASED A SMALL BAG BEFORE THIS ORDER AND USED IT AS TREATS. THIS BAG MUST HAVE SCRAPED THE BOTTOM AS IT IS FULL OF GROUND UP PARTICLES LIKE POWDER. IF YOU WOULD LIKE ME TO SEND IT TO THE MANUFACTURER PLEASE LET ME KNOW.
3 Stars because I believe the quality is good, but none of my 6 picky cats would eat it. One of them sampled a few morsels, but then the bowl sat untouched. For reference, all 6 like American Journey and Fussie Cat brands of dry food.
My kitty has had issues with food since he was a kitten. Allergies, scent glands, ears and weight issues. Since switching to this food all of those issues have improved or disappeared. He is an ultra picky eater so I do mix it with the Core 95 wet food; however, he LOVES the freeze dried pieces and will nibble on the dry kibble occasionally. I feed the mix twice a day and leave dry out 24/7. His coat is shiny and his weight is purrfect!
Disapointed. The first bag I got, my cat seemed to like it so I decided to buy another however the second bag was really powdery and discolored. My cat won't eat it now. Dont think I will buy it again.
the cats will pick at this but they do not like therefore I will not reorder. Still need food that my cats like and will not vomit. They pick out the freeze dry turkey but don't eat the nuggets
All 3 cats sniffed the food and turned away and refused to eat.
