Yes. Although the likelihood of your pets being affected by fleas decreases in the winter months, they can still pose a threat to your pet, and some ticks are actually more active in cooler weather! Fleas also continue to develop indoors due to the warmer indoor temperatures. Therefore, it’s important to keep protecting your pet throughout the year.

Yes, even indoor-only pets can become exposed to fleas. Adult fleas can hitch a ride on your clothing, get into your home, and then on your pet. Even if your dog or cat only goes outside in your fenced-in backyard, that fence won’t keep out wildlife that can carry fleas. Your pets can still be exposed to fleas in your yard, especially in areas protected from the sun, like under bushes and in crawlspaces.

Depending on temperature and humidity, flea development from egg to adult can vary from less than two weeks (in summer) to well over 6 months (in winter). Existing pupal fleas in their cocoons are protected and need to develop and emerge as new fleas before they can be killed. As long as pets in the household receive an appropriate flea and tick product every month, no new populations of fleas will be able to get established.  

Even if you have treated your pet for adult fleas, some fleas may lay eggs before dying, therefore it is important to tackle flea eggs. FRONTLINE® Brand Products kill adult fleas and prevent the development of flea eggs and flea larvae, breaking the flea life cycle.  

You are likely seeing NEW fleas on your pet, which are jumping on your pet as it moves through infested areas in and around your home. Depending on the severity of the existing infestation, you may continue to see new fleas jumping on your pet for three months or more due to the flea life cycle. If one animal in the home has fleas, they can infest other animals. Treating all animals with an appropriate flea and tick protection product regularly is necessary to break the flea life cycle.  

No, FRONTLINE® Brand Products are an effective treatment against fleas and ticks that works for a full month. When applied correctly and on a regular monthly basis, you do not need to use any other flea and tick products while using FRONTLINE® Brand Product topicals.

One dose (pipette) of FRONTLINE® Brand Products should be applied once per month to protect against fleas and ticks. Year-round application is essential for dogs or cats for flea and tick protection.
