6 Easy Steps for the One-Minute Cheek Swab Test
Before you begin, please read these instructions carefully and complete the registration process at www.dnamydog.com. Ensure your dog does not eat or drink (other than water) for one hour before starting and has no contact with other dogs (water, toys, mouth) one hour before.
1) Remove the Sterile Swab from the packaging by holding on to the handle. Do not touch the tip.
2) Place the swab between the cheek and gum of the dog. Firmly rub the swab tip against inner surface of the dog’s cheek in a circular motion several times for 20 seconds.
3) Place the swab in the Donor Specimen Envelope. Do not seal the envelope yet.
4) Repeat steps 1-3, using the other sterile swab provided and swabbing the dog’s other cheek. Place the swab in the same Donor Specimen Envelope. Do not seal the envelope yet.
5) Allow the two sample swabs to air-dry in the unsealed envelope for 25 minutes before sealing.
6) Place sealed Donor Specimen Envelope in the supplied mailing envelope. The cheek cell samples are stable for several months without refrigeration.

DNA Review of Pit Mix
By PitMixDad on Feb 23, 2021
I promised DNAMyDog that I would complain to Chewy since I was quite disappointed with their process and then, the product received. First, it took quite a long time for them to receive my dog's sample. When I complained about that, they were very pleasant, noting that they could send another swab or refund my money. But, since it was purchased from Chewy they could not refund my money and suggested that I take it up with Chewy. Then, they found the sample, so I authorized proceeding with the analysis. In about 2 weeks after that, they sent me a very generic report about my Pit Bull mix puppy noting Boxer (level 2), English Springer Spaniel (level 4), Labrador Retriever (level 4), and Border I promised DNAMyDog that I would complain to Chewy since I was quite disappointed with their process and then, the product received. I have had dog genetic testing before with another company and it provided much greater specificity about the dog's history. I was disappointed and would not encourage use of this product unless you are happy with a very generic report that takes a long time to receive. … more

Almost worthless
By Petec14 on Feb 6, 2021
Not worth the money. Had another DNA test given to me and bought this one because it sounded like it might give me more information. Used them on brothers. I believe that the information from the test given to me was correct and went along with what the previous owner said about their parents. DNA My Dog was right about one parent that was a single breed but that was it. Information that it gave about the breed was general knowledge that could be found on the web and did not have anything to do with their DNA. Received pictures of other dogs that had similar DNA to mine from other gift test site. Looked like my dogs. Other test was more expensive and worth paying more to get.

Fast and reliable service.
By DNAMYDOG on Jan 15, 2021
I had purchased a very expensive puppy that wasnt supposed to weigh more than about 5 pounds and be a pretty little guy. As my Max grew and grew in the first 5 months of life to be 9.4 pounds and 18.5 inches long from collar to butt and 14.5 inches tall. I needed to know what i had spent my money on. DNA MY DOG came through with very fast results that my Max was in fact 100% yorkie just as he was supposed to be. DNA MY DOG kept me updated through the entire process. I would use this test again if needed.

Surprise result
By surprise on Jan 20, 2021
After adopting our shelter dog when she was 6 months old she only came with an educated guess at what her breed might have been ( Labrador / Hound mix is what was listed ) , but these breeds were not making sense of certain behaviorial traits that she was exhibiting. So this past Christmas we got the DNA test and what a surprise we got as to the breed , the test showed her to be 69-99% level 1 Rottweiler and 26-39% level 3 Greyhound mix !!!! but it also gave a truly comprehensive explanation of the genetic and characteristics of those breeds . It all made a lot of sense in understanding her behavior and future care of her .

Waste of Money
By Kristine on Mar 3, 2021
Do not waste your money on this item. If you truly wish to find out your dog's genetic makeup, go with a more reputable kit. I have a maltese/yorkie mix and DNA My Dog said she is 60% Basset Hound. They do not have a broad breed base, and do not identify the genetics of many common breeds.

Rip off of a DNA test
By Morgan on Feb 15, 2021
It’s been over a month and I have yet to even hear back on if they received my DNA test, my dog also just passed away right after I did her DNA test so I’m a bit more sensitive to this. I am not pleased at all. I also tested 2 dogs and it only lets me view one dog, even though it shows absolutley nothing on their portal. Will not buy from here again!

Waste of money
By Cole on Feb 28, 2021
After almost 2 months of waiting I got my “result” back. It said my dog was 66% Pekingese. No other breed information was given. I already knew she was part Pekingese. I wanted to know the rest of the breed makeup. I reached out 2 times and never got a response. Do not buy this test.

Don’t waste your money
By Amr85 on Feb 8, 2021
We adopted a suspected lab/hound mix but wanted to see what type of hound as you can tell he is mixed with lab. The told me he was S breed golden retriever and trace dna of Belgian Milinois. Seems very inaccurate to me as one or both of his parents would have to be purebred golden retriever. They found no other breeds.

Amazing communication
By WTWTARescue on Jan 8, 2021
We here at Where The Wild Things Are Rescue wanted to know what breed of puppies we had on hand considering we only knew what our momma was so we could only tell half their story. We bought DNA My Dog and did a DNA test on them. We are incredibly pleased with this company. They were sure to tell us when they received the kit, when the kit was being processed, and when it was completed. We couldn't be more excited about it all. By doing this test we were able to identify their breed therefore allowing us to potentially intake the possible father. We will be doing a DNA test on the father as well to see if he is the father of the litter we rescued. All very exciting. Thank you DNA My Dog!

DO NOT BUY
By Jazz on Feb 12, 2021
Do not buy this. The company itself SUCKS. I mailed my results in the middle of last month. After 2 attempts at contacting them, I finally received confirmation that they received the samples today. So now I wait another 2 weeks at least to get results. So what should have taken 3 weeks will end up taking almost 2 months.
