Adjust feeding amounts as necessary to maintain optimal weight. If you are unsure, ask your veterinarian. For best results & safety practices: Gradually transition to your pet's new food over a 7 day period. Exclusively feed the recommended Prescription Diet dry food, canned food & treats. Keep fresh water available at all times. Have your veterinarian monitor your pet's condition. Cover and refrigerate unused portion of the can.

Transition Instructions

Begin the transition by mixing both the current food and their new cat food together. Gradually decrease the amount of the current cat food while increasing the amount of new cat food. Continue to do this over a 7-day period. Transitioning slowly can result in fewer digestive issues and better acceptance of the new cat food. Mix 25% of the new food in with 75% of the current food for the first 2 days, then mix 50% new food with 50% existing food for the next 2 days, then mix 75% new food with 25% current food for the next 2 days. By day seven, you can feed your cat 100% new food.

Likes the sauce, not the veggies

    By on

It has been a problem to find a kidney-friendly diet for my cat. We were feeding her the k/d tuna pate from the same brand but she is a senior and needs some extra joint support. We gave this a try and she does like it, only the sauce though. She doesn't really eat the chunks unless she is in between feedings then she caves and eats it. She will not eat the chunks of carrot or other non-meat ingredients. If this could come in a pate formula, that would be great because I would know she is actually getting the full benefit of the food. As she has gotten older, she doesn't like to chew her food, her teeth are fine- she's just lazy.

Kidney disease stay in your lane

    By on

My 16yo kitty is tolerating this food well (no vomiting/diarrhea) after 2 weeks. In 3 months time hopefully her kidney disease will be stable per her lab values, and she will continue living the good life with us.

    Cats give four claws up

    By on

So I have three cats with kidney issues. I started with another prescription canned food that two of the three hated. It was hard to get them to eat it. I dont have that problem with this food. All the cats like it but it's so expensive.

    Few options

    By on

I like the small can size but unfortunately my cat doesn't like the food. He seemed to enjoy the first can but no more after that. I have resorted to mixing it 1:1 with other soft food so he will eat it which, unfortunately, defeats the purpose of feeding him a total kidney clean diet. At least he's getting a half clean diet! Is there any way to make the food more palatable to a cat in need of healthy AND tasty food?

    Our cat loves it!

    By on

Our 16 year old Sabby seemed to have lost his appetite and was only picking at his food. We were worried about his continuing to drop weight. The first time we opened the k/d Plus Mobility,, he gobbled it down and has done so with every subsequent feeding. One week after starting this new food, we discontinued his pain med (Gabapentin) and he is moving like he did several years ago! We are THRILLED!

    Cat prefers this variety

    By on

My cat has been on kd diet for over a year. I started the mobility about a month ago. It’s over twice as expensive as the pate but my cat will refuse to eat the pate after a while. She seems to really like this and eats a lot more. They also make it in fish or tuna that I get at my vet. She likes that one a bit more. I wish you carried both varieties.

    Cat loves it!

I have a 21 year old female. Was recently prescribed k/d food. She is a very finicky eater. Was afraid she would not eat it. She loves the stews(chicken or tuna). She’ll eat the pate’ but prefers the stews.
