Adjust feeding amounts as necessary to maintain optimal weight. If you are unsure, ask your veterinarian. For best results & safety practices: Gradually transition to your pet's new food over a 7 day period. Exclusively feed the recommended Prescription Diet dry food, canned food & treats. Keep fresh water available at all times. Have your veterinarian monitor your pet's condition. Cover and refrigerate unused portion of the can.

Transition Instructions

Begin the transition by mixing both the current food and their new cat food together. Gradually decrease the amount of the current cat food while increasing the amount of new cat food. Continue to do this over a 7-day period. Transitioning slowly can result in fewer digestive issues and better acceptance of the new cat food. Mix 25% of the new food in with 75% of the current food for the first 2 days, then mix 50% new food with 50% existing food for the next 2 days, then mix 75% new food with 25% current food for the next 2 days. By day seven, you can feed your cat 100% new food.

  • Re Hill's Formulas for Kidney Dysfunction

    By on

Vet said 14 yo cat's blood tests indicated the start of kidney dysfunction and recommended the Hill's prescriptive formulas for that. Also recommended weekly fluid infusions. I decided to try one at a time and assess. Cat loves the food: regular k/d, rotating the 4 types, pates and stews, chix and tuna. One day I accidentally picked up some of the k/d+mobility at my vet's little store. Cat does have some mobility problems, and the mobility formula did seem to make a bit of a difference, so now we mix some of that into the rotation. Have seen enough improvement in cat's activity level, etc. that I will continue with this diet regimen and hold off on the fluid infusions for the time being.

  • Good for old cats

My cat is 16 yrs old and overweight. Since my vet reccommended k/d mobility, she is losing weight and you can see that her joints hurt less. It is price, but she is worth it.

  • Lil old man loved this!

He has bad teeth, so he likes to eat things in gravy as opposed to pate. This is the right consistency that he can eat it by licking, which is what he prefers to do.

  • It's ok for what it is.

I have to feed this to my senior cat and she can't have much else because of her failing kidneys. This food is ok, but my cat seems to only like the sauce it's in. That's most likely a cat preference issue. I haven't seen an improvement in her mobility, but it's only been about two and a half weeks and she hasn't been eating a lot of it. I wish there was a fish version. I think she would prefer that. I recently have her a vet-approved treat of some BFF tuna and she wolfed it down without hesitation.

  • Good for my older cat

This is a prescription cat food which is helping my 14 year old cat stay mobile and relatively healthy. I appreciate that Chewy could check with my vet and supply this food without my having to drive to get it and carry it in.

  • Great Product

    By on

I gave this catfood to my cat who is 13 years old and is having some mobility issues and has had kidney problems in the past. It has been approximately 1 1/2 weeks after giving one can of food a day plus his dry food (the k/d formula) and he is not limping like he was and he is moving faster, not fast but faster than he was. Chewy was very good about getting a hold of my vet to ensure that I could get this prescription formula cat food.

  • Kinda likes it

    By on

My initial concern is that it contains vegetables. Being carnivores, vegetables are not necessary. He eats it most of the time but occasionally leaves about 1/4 behind. My main concern is that he is eating it. He’s vet recommends a kidney diet.

  • Beware mobility additive

    By on

My cat is 16 and has kidney disease. She loves food but won't touch this flavor. She likes the chicken stew so it has to be the mobility additive that she doesn't like. It is an expensive mistake to make considering how much a case of this food is, so beware.

  • Good for my old cats

My cats are trying to get use to a new food. I ordered Renal perscription approved by my Vet. Also ordered a Renal with mobility for Mr arthritic cat. They eat each others food so I have to cover both ends.
