Continue to Canada siteRoyal Canin Urinary SO is a veterinary-exclusive dry cat food developed to nutritionally support your adult cat’s urinary tract and bladder health. This formula promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the formation of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals. It increases the amount of urine your cat produces to help dilute excess minerals that can cause crystals and stones. Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology is used to help lower ion concentration in urine, which contributes to stone formation. And this specialized nutrition, with a reduced level of magnesium, helps dissolve pure struvite stones and prevent struvite stones from forming. Lower urinary tract issues may be a recurring concern for some cats. Talk to your veterinarian about keeping your cat on this urinary cat food for long-term urinary support.

Pets can be sensitive to sudden changes in their diets. For this reason, it is extremely important to follow a gradual transition plan to best support your pet's health and product effectiveness. It is recommended to follow at least a 7-day transition plan before exclusively feeding your pet a new food. Cats will often refuse mixed diets, so we recommend adding the new food to a separate bowl from the old food. Start by mixing 75% of your pet's current diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the current diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the current diet with 75% of the new diet. On Day 7, you can feed your pet the new food exclusively. Ask your Veterinarian about the best way to transition your pet to a new food.
Transition Day | Current Diet | New Diet |
---|---|---|
Days 1-2 | 75% | 25% |
Days 3-4 | 50% | 50% |
Days 5-6 | 25% | 75% |
Day 7 | 0% | 100% |

This evening we received our regularly scheduled Chewy shipment. upon 1st inspection the box was savagely broken and ripped, as if the box had been meat hooked and dropped from a height, and the packing tape also failed. the cat litter arrived safely as it was shrink wrapped, BUT the very expensive Royal Canin Feline Urinary s/o prescription food bag was compromised and torn. There was cat food spilled inside the box and I don't know how long the contents were exposed during transit, and I don't know how much of the food was lost in the process. This is a 1st. Shocked & Disappointed, I would like a refund for the food, please. Thank you
Our cat flat out rejected Hills CD dry so vet gave a prescription for this . He does eat some ,not a lot but maybe 15 to 25 morsels a day of this. He also eat about 1 can of the Hills urinary wet food per day. Clearly he is no fan of these prescription diet food, but so far after about 3 months no more struvite urinary blockage . surgery alone was $1200 and he had a rough recovery. This Royal Canin SO is the only dry food he eats, His diet is probably 95% wet canned food and 5% RC SO, but as long he has no more blockage and he leaves nice big clumps in the litter box I have to give kudos to RC SO. He eats it, albeit reluctantly.
This prescription food prevents crystals in my cat's urine. After having to have him cathed twice due to blockage, this food has prevented that for at least the last five years. He does inhale it, so I have to limit how much he eats, but I mix it with this regular food, and it increases his water intake significantly preventing crystals. Highly recommend. Also, ordered on Saturday, delivered on Monday. Incredibly fast. Excellent job Chewy!
Urinary blockage issues instigated a need for a specialized diet for my 9 yr old girl. She is a picky eater and has eaten the same cat food for 8 yrs. We were given a different veterinary diet to try initially, she wouldn't touch it. We then tried Royal Canin. She decided it was worthy and has been eating it beatifully. Obviously the main reason was to treat bladder crystals and it has worked wonderfully.
I would like to praise and than the employees of Chewy that helped me with my last orders from Chewy. We were having a difficult time with my credit card and they were so patient with the whole ordeal. I will forever be grateful for their patience and help. Everything was finally worked out and I received my orders. A great bit THANK YOU TO ALL>
We have a Maine Coon that has been eating this prescription food for nearly 13 years. He had an American Shorthair older cat he shared the house with and we could not set up two foods. So the Maine Coon started eating the prescription food and he has done amazingly well. He gets annual checkups and bloodwork and so far so good
Yes, you read that correct! I have 2 adult cats. They have been vomiting up a storm from this stuff! One cat vomited 6 times in one day! Their poop smells atrocious and this food gave them bad diarrhea, which of course I have to clean off their fur daily. It was tracked all over our home. I feel so bad that I accidentally bought a second bag and gave this to them. I had bought a different kind in between and because I buy the largest bags and put them in storage containers, I completely forgot that I already bought this and had issues with it before and now I have two big containers of this garbage. On top of that, I bought another bag of non-prescription urinary food and stupidly mixed it with this thinking I could make it all last longer and not get their tummies so messed up by mixing it up but after reading these reviews, now I see there is a real problem and I'm harming my cats life. I'm so mad at myself for spending all this money on food I can't give them and feel awful for my poor babies. I just came here to write a review and I'm shocked at all the other reviews of the same complaint! They need to take this off the market. Chewy, please contact them and inform them of what's going on. This is really really bad food harming our poor furbabies. I've already lost a 4 year young cat to what I believe was a deadly can of wet cat food, I don't want to lose another one.
Royal Canin is a pretty good product. My male cat had urinary blockage, and I don't want to go through that again nor does he, so our vet prescribed a diet of urinary food to help keep his tract clear. My female cat eats it as well and so far so good
Excellent Prescription Diet for cats with Urinary Problems. Very tasteful for them and enjoyed by my cat with that problem. Never tires of it and always ready to eat it. Appears to keep problem under control with much satisfaction.
Our cats have been on this for several years now. Treating the health problem very well, no recurrences. A huge thank you to Chewy who has been steady in filling our order throughout all the difficulties of the last few years. No worries we would have to change diet and what the effects would be.
