Technically I would rate this a 3.7. It does work great! My cat, Pepper, was getting crystals in her urine and was recommended this diet by her vet. After having her eat this diet strictly for 6 months, her crystal count lowered and she's doing excellent. This prescription does what it says. And my cat loved both the turkey and the salmon flavors for a long time. BUT the ingredient change was really unnecessary. She cannot stand the turkey flavor anymore and will only eat the salmon. So, while it will help your cat with urinary issues take caution with the ingredient change, as your cat may not like the taste. I'd recommend the salmon flavor firstly, as not only does Pepper still like it but other cats as well based on other reviews.
My cat is prone to stones so we’ve been using this product for several years. My only complaint about this product is that the chin is are too large so I have to mechanically make it into bits. This is the ONLY brand of this diet my boy will eat. We have tried all the others dry and wet. He is a senior and having dental problems so the chunks are too hard for him to eat I really wish these were ground smaller! He LOVES the gravy in this food though!
The fact that there are only two flavors in this is terrible. My cat doesn’t like the turkey and giblets and is getting sick of eating the salmon every day to where he barely eats any and walks away. It’s getting wasted and of course I can’t leave it there because I have other cats who can’t eat it. I haven’t noticed any difference in two weeks. My cat still pees outside the box and doesn’t seem to like the food
Bello loves his UR food. He likes having the variety of salmon and turkey. Too bad there weren't some more flavors to tempt him. I like the convenience of having the cat food shipped directly to my house and being able to adjust the order as needed.
I am delighted to say my cat loves the taste of this food. He has to have Urinary Tract formula. I had been buying the over the counter formula available on the shelves in pet stores (not supermarket) in multiple brands and flavors. I spoke with PURINA who has a vet on hand to communicate with. Even though they also offer regular UR~the clarification advice that the PRESCRIPTION formula is that much better customized for the ingredients. Turns out for taste, too! The other top brands of Prescription formula did not taste good to mine.
I thought it was odd that my cat is suddenly barely eating his wet food and trying to eat his not so tasty sisters food after eating this food happily for a year. I checked the reviews and the purina site and it is not just my cat, there has been a formula change and other kitties do not like it. I noticed that it has some weirdly large chunks in it too. It seems like he is only willing to eat the salmon flavor now, and I just bought an expensive multipack. I really wish they would fix this. Even if I just buy the salmon, I really do not like him only having one option. He did not like the other rx urinary foods.
I just opened the first can of the box to realize it is chunks and gravy and not pate. My cat is 17 years old and his teeth cannot handle anything but pate. Any chance that I could exchange? Only one can has been opened
My cat was recently diagnosed with FLUTD, she had really bad crystals built up in her bladder and was peeing blood. This food literally has saved her life. After only a week the blood was gone, back to normal pee, and on re-check at the vet no more crystals! Besides that she absolutely loves it and begs to be fed.
None of my 4 cats like this food. I have to mash it and combine it with 2 other foods for them to eat it. Otherwise, they won't touch it, or only lap the gravy. Will not buy again.
My cat does not like the regular Purina UR wet food so I’ve started buying him these flavors, which he does like!! 5 stars for the actual food, but every single can came dented up. Not a big deal, as long as the seals are not compromised. This food is too expensive to risk getting bad food from being all dented up. I realize shipping is iffy with some items but I’m not sure I want to risk wasting a few cans.
