Happy to find UR can option my cats eat!
One of my cats had a urinary blockage due to crystals and high ph levels so vet switched him to this prescription UR food. He eats the dry kind mostly but I wanted to give him a wet option also. Chewy is the only place I could find it and they made it easy to order with vet prescription. The chunks are bigger than I’d like so I do have to cut them up smaller. But I’m happy my cat eats it and an added bonus is my that other cats will eat it too. But they aren’t picky eaters like some cats. It is pricey when compared to other wet can food but I’m willing to pay if it helps my kitty not get crystals again. Thank you Chewy for offering this option!
Great Product, but my cat won’t eat it!
The vet recommended this food for my 16yo cat, Siboney. His renal blood work was high & he was dealing with constipation. This food is about 80% water, which is awesome. Low in proteins & full of renal-friendly vitamins and minerals. Unfortunately, it is not paté. Siboney has always been finicky with his food - he will only lick the gravy if the food is not minced. This brand & product doesn’t make a paté version, so I tried putting the food in the blender. I would blend 2 cans @ a time adding about 1/2 a can of water. I read online that cats rather the food be warm - so I put his plate with food in the microwave for about 15-20secs. This way he could smell it better. This worked for a few weeks, but eventually I had to contact the vet & ask for alternative food. I hope this review helps other finicky furbabies!
Chewy is great!
Nothing at all against Chewy, but my cat hates all Prescription foods. I’m having a very hard time with her need for it now. She will lick the gravy off of the meat and leave the chunks. She prefers a pate. The Salmon she would not even get close to..Chewy is great however and I do recommend them.
Not bad for UR food
My kitty recently had a 2nd bout with bladder inflammation, and the vet said he has a stone. I had tried the urinary diet route last time (4 years ago), but Klatu hated everything I tried, so I just did my best to keep him hydrated and stress-free. Extra-stressful conditions led to this most recent problem. But this time around, he seems OK with a couple of the UR foods. For the Purina Pro Plan, he seems to prefer the salmon over the turkey, but he'll eat both, which is a relief. I have no idea yet if they are dissolving the stone, won't know for another couple of weeks. If it's a different type of stone, surgery might be in his future. But at least the food is palatable. To him. :)
Vet Required Life Saver
I was so happy to see that you all carried this product. When our cat was put on his vet diet I thought he would be doomed to a lifetime of pate wet food. These chunks in gravy are just what he loved about his old non vet diet food and he hasn't been a happier cat. He actually bothers me every meal time so he can lick the spoon after I scoop out his serving, something he stopped doing when we started having dietary restrictions.
They find it acceptable
As this is a prescription food, I buy this for one of my cats who develops urinary crystals and blockage. All three of my cats like it okay, even if it's not intended for them all. The salmon flavor is their favorite of the two flavors in this variety pack, though they like the chicken flavor okay.
Our Daisy Loves It!
Our cat Daisy recently had surgery to remove calcium oxalate bladder stones. Our vet told us we needed to start feeding her a prescription diet, and we thought, "oh no; this will be impossible!" But she absolutely loves the Pro Plan Veterinary Diet. Our vet had given us another brand, which she did not like, and so we are thrilled to have Pro Plan. Ordering from Chewy was very easy. They reached out to our vet and got the prescription information, and that only added a day to the ordering process.
Finally, a winner!
After trying and struggling to keep my cat interested in and not actively turning his nose up at every flavor available of first Hills and then Royal Canin, we finally struck gold with Purina UR. He loves this Rx food and hasn't had a flare of his FLUTD in ages. I'm so relieved mealtimes with him are (mostly) no longer a struggle!
Thank you so much, Purina!
I have been feeding my cat the Prescription Diet C/D wet food for about two years after my cat developed urinary crystals. She liked it at first but she slowly became more and more disinterested - so much so that she began to refuse to eat it at all. She liked the Royal Canin S/O better because there was a morsels and gravy formulation, but lately it has become impossible to find… you can’t even find it on the brand’s own website! I thought I had no other choices but then I found this brand… and boy am I happy I did! My cat LOVES this food. Not only is it the morsels and gravy formulation she likes, but it also has different flavors so she will not get bored of it. I am beyond pleased with my purchase… Purina, you now have another loyal customer!
Great at what it does
My cat has been on this for 2+ years and he still loves it! He had a lift threatening urinary blockage and the vet recommended he be placed on this food to help with the crystals. So far, we have had no further problems! He loves the gravy, the taste and the texture. He is quite fussy but he will eat this any day. Would definitely recommend.
