My two bunnies love this hay! The second cut Timothy hay is much preferred to the first cut from other brands. Will definitely be our preferred hay to feed going forward.
So far, all four of our bunnies are really enjoying this hay so much more than previous brands. Thank you for quality product!
Personally, I think the smaller boxes are better. The bigger boxes tend to have more dust and smaller pieces. This was the first time I got a 12 lb box, maybe I just got a bad box. I'm not sure, but it felt like there was more waste in this box.
I really love this hay. I'm used to the more well known brands of hay. And had been out of the market for a while so I was not familiar with Small Pet Select. I really liked that it said it was 2nd cut which is supposed to be the best quality for healthy animals. So I decided to give it a try! The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was how fresh, green, and fragrant it was. The piggies love it!!! Seems like a really premium hay brand!!!!
My bunny loves his hay! Very happy. Ordered 25lb Timothy hay.. Product arrived on time and lasted as long as it should have. Happy with the cardboard box packaging. Convenient
Decided to try Small Pet Select hay since my pet sitter swears by it for her bunny and Oxbow was beginning to seem so dry and wow ...the price went way up. My bunnies binky for this hay. This particular product is no longer available on Chewy so now I'm on auto ship directly with Small Pet Select.
Our first 10-lb box we tried was 1st cut and this 12-lb box is 2nd cut about one month in. I’ll probably stick with 2nd cut box now because my rabbit pulls out and wastes too much of long stalkier pieces that 1st cut hay is — it’s more of a personal problem for me haha. I might get ambitious and eventually mix the two, so he still gets the crunchy pieces to help wear his teeth down. I don’t want to bash other Timothy hay brands here, but I’ve tried other higher name brands. I will say I understand imperfections like small pieces/dust and brown hay happens, so I’m not quick to criticize. Small Pet Select is definitely a winner for us!
I was strictly an Oxbow customer until the quality of their hay went to heck. I bought the biggest bag/box and more than half of the package was thrown away due to the dust and stale pieces that my girls wouldn’t even want to use to go to the bathroom. My vet recommended small pet select so I decided to give it a try. My girls now wheek every time I go towards the hay to get more out the loudest I have ever heard them wheek before!! I did notice my box did have a lot of twigs with roots and short pieces that turned to dust but I am hoping that it was just a bad batch and will give it another try.
The Small Pet Select Timothy hay smells fresh like it was just harvested so I think all the buns like it and enjoy burrowing in it. It's the baby bunnies first hay. And it's packed so you can life out just the right amount instead of wrestling it out of a bag.
This is my 2nd box of Small Pet Select 2nd cut Timothy Hay. After years of throwing away poor quality hay that my piggie refused to eat, I decided to try a higher quality product. Her reaction was immediate! She dove into the huge pile that I put in her cage and "mowed it down" from the inside out. The hay is green and fresh, with minimal waste. (She won't eat the tiniest bits, because she's a bit of a princess piggie...) It is also mind-blowing the enormous amount that the company packs into the box. I definitely recommend and definitely will buy again. P.S. my cat loves it, too!
