When used as prescribed, side effects while using Trifexis are rare. Symptoms of GI distress and skin irritation can occur. Vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, lack of appetite, and itching and reddening of the skin have been reported. Vomiting may be more likely in puppies under 14 weeks of age. If your dog is truly allergic to Trifexis or to the dying of parasites, she may exhibit symptoms such as facial swelling, hives, scratching, sudden onset of diarrhea, vomiting, shock, seizures, pale gums, cold limbs, or coma. If your dog experiences any of these symptoms, call your veterinarian or a local emergency veterinarian immediately.
Always communicate with your veterinarian about any medications, vitamins, or supplements your dog is already taking. Some serious adverse reactions have been documented when used with other spinosad and ivermectin medications simultaneously. No known food interactions have been reported.
The use of ivermectin at higher than FDA approved doses at the same time as Trifexis can result in serious side effects. Treatment with fewer than three monthly doses after the last exposure to mosquitoes may not provide complete heartworm prevention. Prior to administration of Trifexis, dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infection. Use with caution in breeding females. The safe use of Trifexis in breeding males has not been evaluated. Use with caution in dogs with pre-existing epilepsy. The most common adverse reactions reported are vomiting, decreased activity, itching, decreased appetite, and diarrhea. To ensure heartworm prevention, observe your dog for one hour after administration. If vomiting occurs within an hour of administration, re-dose with another full dose. Puppies less than 14 weeks of age may experience a higher rate of vomiting. For complete safety information, please see Trifexis product label or ask your veterinarian.

My 2 Boston terriers were on Nexgard, but needed the heartworm prevention as well. I did some research and a lot of vets say that 1 pill a month vs 2 is easier for owners and their pets. So I switched them to Trifexis, being under the impression by the vet (I should have researched instead of listening to the vet) that it was for fleas/ticks/heart worms. They have been on it for less than a month, and I’m already finding checks on them. We live in Florida which has a significant amount of ticks. Lyme disease and ehrlichiosis being the top 2 tick related diseases in Florida. This product is quite expensive and I ordered a 6 month supply and used auto ship (cheaper that way) and I am very disappointed that I wasted so much money without getting the prevention they need to be flea and tick free.
Mikey won't get his 1st does till tue 17th of Sept. He's been on this same flea med for awhile. This does will be the 1st through Chewy. It works awesome and through Chewy a more affordable. I got the 6 month filling, Six months I don't have to worry when to order again. Ty Chewy.
TRIFEXIS is very effective. I have a female pug and she’s very sensitive to medications. TRIFEXIS has worked great for the past seven years, with no side effects. I give half in the morning with dab of peanut butter and the other half in the evening.
Trifexis is great for protecting my dogs against fleas, worms and heart worms. I never have to worry about those pests. The pill is easy to take. Chewy did a great job in contacting my Vet and sending the tablets to me very quickly.
We love Trifexis, our girls have been on it for a long time and have never had heartworms even though we live in muggy Florida!! The bonus of this med is that it kills fleas - they may pick them up outside but they do not live to be an infestation! This was our first time ordering from Chewy! Super fast turn around time!!
Started this as more mosquitoes are in my area, and I wanted to protect my pug also from heartworms. I started this by itself, but I noticed fleas and ticks were still jumping on him, so I now use it in combination with Frontline
Impressed that you contacted my current vet to get the flea treatment prescription transferred. Now no more trips to the vet for purchases. No more worries, Chewy will send a refill as needed. Love the convenience.
I purchased this because it is easier to keep up with and more affordable. I used to have the monthly pill sent to me with Allivet. But getting this 6 month one saved me over $50 dollars, plus I had a coupon which saved me more. Definitely, I will be reordering!
I had a small problem and the lady I spoke with resolved it very quickly! And couldn't have been nicer!!
I did try this on 3 dogs, awful tasting to them. A real struggle to get them to take it, I will switch to something else when the supply is gone,
