Your precious pet can still show off his adorably cute personality even while healing from an injury with the Alfie Pet Noah Lion Dog & Cat Recovery Collar. An animal in the wild instinctively licks his wounds to help sanitize them, but that’s not always helpful or safe in the modern age of stitches, bandages and medication. This adorable fabric collar fits snugly around your furry friend’s neck with sturdy fuzzy fastener closures to keep him from traumatizing the surgical site or injured area by chewing or licking. Although he may initially dislike the cone, he should adapt quickly with lots of positive energy, praise and, of course, tasty treats.

Pet parent should monitor pet in the beginning as pet may chew the collar. A highly restless or uncooperative pet could potentially flip the soft fabric collar over or remove it completely.
To select the best size, measure your pet's neck and depth to compare with the size chart.
The second measurement (neck to snout) is the most critical, as the collar needs to extend beyond the nose in order to provide effective protection. If your dog or cats nose is sticking out of the end of the cone, they may be able to reach the affected areas. If the dog happens to be in between sizes it's then recommended to select the bigger size.
Size | Neck Girth | Depth |
---|---|---|
X-Small | 6.5 - 8 inches | 5 inches |
Small | 7.75 - 9.5 inches | 5.75 inches |
Medium | 9.25 - 10.75 inches | 6.5 inches |
Large | 10 - 11.5 inches | 7.25 inches |
X-Large | 11 - 12.5 inches | 8 inches |
XX-Large | 12.5 - 14 inches | 9 inches |
1) The size in inches around their neck (circumference) 2) The size in inches from the neck to the snout
The second measurement (neck to snout) is the most critical, as the collar needs to extend beyond the nose in order to provide effective protection. If your dog or cats nose is sticking out of the end of the cone, they may be able to reach the affected areas.
If any of the measurements are 'between' two sizes, choose the larger size. If your measurements are toward the upper end of the range given for a particular size, you may also want to choose the larger size, as you may also wish to do for heavily coated dogs to accommodate all that fur.
I bought this for my best friend because she's going through a licking phase and the only other cone I have was plastic and she despised it... happily surprised as it's very soft to the touch and even the first time I put it on her she was obviously a lot more comfortable and even tried to play. This cone can be folded back so it may not work for all purposes but for what we needed it for it's wonderful...I guess my only issue, they didn't have the sunflower in her size as after reading the reviews I'm glad I bought the x-small as it does run big!
Absolutely adorable, but meant for larger animals. The neck girth measurement was fine, however, the cone was too large for our 5.2lb kitten. She couldn’t eat or drink water with this on. We tried flipping it like some people suggested however it was still too long and she would trip/step on it. Ended up using a shorter cone, which still kept her from reaching her spay incision, but still allowed her to eat and drink on her own.
I got a size large for my smaller-sizes golden retriever which should’ve been right according to the sizing. It was meant to keep her from licking her spay incision and an area that was bothering her from an allergy, but she was easily able to lick around it once she found out how easily it bends. The reason I bought a fabric one was to keep her comfortable, but there should still be at least some kind of internal wire structuring going from the neck outwards to prevent this from happening. She unfortunately has to go back in to get more stitches. Only giving it two stars because of the cute design.
I gave this 4 stars because it is a good, soft, cute cone. But it's way too heavy for tiny dogs (mine is 4.5 lbs) because the cone is padded. And because of that, the ears rotate towards the bottom, rather than staying at the top. And those ears then get in the way of walking. My pup trips over them and they get caught on everything. I think they sacrificed functionality for cuteness. The ears are unwieldy and create extra, unneeded weight.
Harley came home in the hard plastic cone after eye surgery. Poor guy was running into things and just generally miserable getting around. Trouble eating and drinking and jumping into his favorite chair. My Physical Therapist told us about this soft cone. I ordered it immediately. Harley is so much more comfortable.
I loved how cute this looked but my dog couldn't get around at all with it on. He promptly crawled under the bed and took it off. I was needing something to keep him from bothering his medicine and pulling out his hair. Unfortunately, this did not fit the bill.
This is what I've been excitedly waiting for. It's so much easier to put on and off with the velcro adjustment. Is softer to the touch than the hard plastic one we've been having to deal with. Plus! She looks really cute in it! The plastic one kept flopping over her ears it was too jangly. This one gives her ears room to be without constantly being squished by the plastic one from the vet.
The neck whole was so tiny and didnt closed and the lion mane was HUGE and flopped on my pups face. Sad I can't even use it.
Then come fit around their neck but was not big enough to block from licking. It would be a cute costume though.
It looks great, sadly I didn’t see that it was small breeds only.. got this for my healthy Black Lab. My fault.
