The Hottest Pet Home Decor Trends of 2024

Sleek multipurpose furniture, well-crafted designs and wellness-boosting sanctuaries: These trends are showing up more and more in homes—including in pet furniture and décor. From cat trees and scratchers to dog beds and crates, pet home décor continues to follow in the footsteps of human décor trends, making it easier to seamlessly integrate into virtually every shared space of your home.

We spoke to Chewy Design and Trend Manager Ann-Margaret Kim about the biggest pet home décor trends of 2024.

From an entryway console with a hidden spot for kitty litter to a dog crate that passes as a stylish side table, pet parents can expect to see a bigger selection of on-trend pet-centric multipurpose furniture this year.

“Pet parents are looking to invest in items that are multipurpose with an aesthetic that fits seamlessly into their existing home decor, kitchen or pantry [and] does not disrupt their interior design choices,” Kim says, adding that this “connects to the larger trend we see of pets being fully integrated into the family.”

Frisco’s walkway entrance bench, for example, not only elevates one’s home decor with its modern, minimalist design, but it can also be used as a discrete potty place for cats, thanks to the furniture’s built-in double doors. Alternatively, pet parents can use the covered space as a hidden hangout spot where cats can relax on their favorite bed.

Expect to see more thoughtfully designed, well-crafted furniture that not only features lighter tone neutrals that help evoke an open-space feel into the home, but also embraces curved forms that help create a calming sanctuary for pets and seamlessly integrate into the home.

“We are championing artisanal techniques for refined, textural accents paired with pet-centric designs that highlight neutral tones; natural grain effects; and tactile, layered surface dimensions,” Kim says of the Considered Craft trend. Frisco’s wicker cat condo (seen above) is a great example: It boasts ivory and light brown hues and a woven wicker texture contrasted by fluffy bedding both inside the cave and on top.

Is your pet’s physical and mental well-being as much of a priority as your own? Of course it is. And one big trend for pet home décor this year is embracing restorative, wellness-forward pet products, like orthopedic bolster beds and modern, faux fur-lined cat trees that provide a safe and comfortable space for pets to retreat during times of stress.

“Pets are finding themselves alone for longer periods—or in an office environment where a calming sanctuary is key to creating a home away from home. This helps restore their sense of safety and mental well-being,” Kim says. “We predict this wellness focus will continue due to hybrid lifestyle adjustments and return-to-office shifts across the U.S. for pet parents.”

Other pet products that fit the Restorative Wellness trend include snuffle mats and interactive slow feeders that provide a fun way to support mental stimulation and reduce boredom (especially on your meeting-heavy days!), and elevated pet bowls that help reduce strain on the neck and back, relieve joint pain and promote better digestion.

“All our home products—above all else—deliver high-quality at a great price, which we know continues to play a big role for pet parents and their budgets moving into 2024,” Kim says. “[Pet parents are] looking for products that are [not only] durable [and] supportive in wellness and comfort for their pet [but also] fit their budget needs.”
