Which is the smaller link 3mm or 4mm

Answer by ChewyApr 18, 2019
The 3 millimeter links are recommended for Medium breeds and the 4 millimeter links are recommended for Large breeds.

How to assemble the coller

Answer by ChewyAug 13, 2019
To put this chain collar on your dog, follow these simple steps: 1) Hold one of the chain’s end rings and push the chain through the ring. You have now formed the straight chain into a loop circle with both end rings touching. 2) Put the collar in front of the dog so it looks like a horizontal 'P.' Place the resulting loop around your dog’s head. 3) Attach a leash to the ring that does not have the collar sliding through it. When placed on your dog in this manner, pulling on the leash will cause the collar to tighten. When you relax the leash, the collar loosens.

will this collar turn white fur black?

Answer by ChewyDec 29, 2021
A stainless steel collar is less likely to rust. This black stainless steel collar is suitable for dogs with dark fur and those canines who are not reactive to nickel. The collars made of black stainless steel are not recommended for dogs with light coat, as because of normal abrasion processes they may color fur. If your dog has light fur we advise to order a nickel free curogan collar or stainless steel collar with other features.

Just rescued this 88 pound , one year old Belgian Malinois. He gives the fur saver collar 6 golden woofs. He can’t eat it, it doesn’t catch on the bushes like his harness does and it doesn’t bind up in his neck ruff. Special thanks to Chewy- we didn’t know how big he was, and had ordered a size large. The day he came home and we realized it wouldn’t fit, I called customer service and the extra large collar was sent out the same day! Thanks Chewy, and thanks to Saving Paws of Arizona for helping rescue these special fur babies.

Don't forget the head size.

This has to be able to slip over your dog's head. I did measure my husky's neck and got the correct size for her but it is a little bit of a squeeze to get it over

This has to be able to slip over your dog's head. I did measure my husky's neck and got the correct size for her but it is a little bit of a squeeze to get it over her head. So really I should have gotten one size up, but it works once it's on. The material is extremely light. I was worried it might break because it feels like it's made out of aluminum foil or something cheap. But it is actually pretty strong and I've had no issues even with pulling. It doesn't pull my husky's fur and seems comfortable for her.

Perfect for long, pile-type fur!

Before I was using a regular choke chain (since regular flat collars don’t mesh well with this kind of pile fur) but after awhile that also started causing breakage

We're really pleased that this works because our bulldog is big (and getting bigger.) He acts as excited as a small puppy when he sees other dogs, and it kinda scares other dogs (because he's pretty big and strong -- AND SOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) He has a huge neck, and bulldogs do NOT have the same pain threshhold as other dogs, otherwise I would not use this as my first option (or 5th option in our case.) So that's just a word to pet parents of other breeds. Consider that it will be yanking and closing in on their neck. Consider the girth and strength of your dog and their breed as well as their neck.

Great collar

I love this collar! It doesn’t ruin his fur or lay it down.

Works well but not as good as the original

This collar works well, we are not yet able to determine if it is allowing fur to grow back at his neckline. The collar due to the long links unfortunately does

This collar works well, we are not yet able to determine if it is allowing fur to grow back at his neckline. The collar due to the long links unfortunately does not work as smoothly as traditional small link collars, making corrections inconsistent and may not immediately release.

Fursaver & Strength!

I've had German Shepherds for years, have always used these collars; they don't pinch or catch their fur like regular choker collars, they also prove to be stronger

I measured my dogs neck at 18". He normally wears a snake chain that is 20" and is a tad big but works, so I assumed that the "19 inch neck" size fur saver would fit, but it didn't even come close to going over his head. Now I see further down in the description it's recommended for a 17" neck... What the heck?

We needed a training collar for our Labrador pup. However, we had concerns about the traditional ones and didn't want prongs. This option gives the same level of control when we need to get her attention but the elongated links keep it from really tightening down and choking her if she pulls too much or gets tangled in brush on a long lead. It is rather more lightweight than ones we've used before, but for her, it's the perfect fit.

Release issue

Works fine for dog with medium length hair. Does not tangle. However the links do not allow for a smooth release so useless for training purposes.
