Description

Your furry friend must have a current heartworm test result on file with your veterinarian in order to be prescribed heartworm medication. Please visit your veterinarian to have this test performed annually to protect your four-legged friend. Interceptor Plus is a monthly, broad-spectrum parasiticide prescribed by your vet to help prevent heartworm disease. Plus, it treats and controls adult roundworm, adult hookworm, adult whipworm and adult tapeworm. It comes in a tasty, chewable tablet, making dosing easy for you and your pet.

Uses

For the prevention of heartworm disease and for the treatment and control of adult roundworm, adult hookworm, adult whipworm, and adult tapeworm, plus flea tapeworm infections in dogs and puppies two pounds of body weight or greater and six weeks of age and older.

Possible Side Effects

Please contact your veterinarian if the following adverse reactions occur: vomiting, diarrhea, depression/lethargy, ataxia, anorexia, convulsions, weakness, and salvation.

Drug & Food Interactions

Talk to your veterinarian about any other drugs your pet is taking before starting this medication.

Precautions

Treatment with fewer than six monthly doses after the last exposure to mosquitoes may not provide complete heartworm prevention. Please consult your veterinarian for use in pets used for breeding or in lactating females. Not for use in humans. Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children.

FAQ

How To Give Your Dog Interceptor Plus

Interceptor Plus (milbemycin oxime/praziquantel) is a chewable tablet flavored with real chicken that you give to your dog once a month, every month. Its overall acceptability is 96.6%, which makes dosing easy.

You can give Interceptor Plus to your dog by hand or add it to a small amount of dog food. Administer the chewables in a manner that encourages your dog to chew, rather than to swallow without chewing. If your dog normally swallows treats whole, you may break the chewables into pieces and feed them to your dog.

Make sure that your dog consumes the complete dose, and observe your pet for a few minutes after administration to ensure that no part of the dose is lost or rejected. If you suspect that any of the dose has been lost, redosing is recommended.

    Poor communication regarding slow orders

    By on

Several weeks ago I ordered some heartworm medication for my dogs. My dogs are different sizes so require different doses. After waiting 11 days one of the doses showed up. I have no idea where the other one is. The Chewy website only says the order is being prepared. I have received zero communication from Chewy regarding the shipment. Will it come tomorrow? Next week? Next month? Never? This is medication that we're talking about, not a rubber ball or a collar. The fact that Chewy does not recognize the importance of timely communication regarding something as significant as medication speaks poorly about the company. I would go to my vet but the covid crisis has forced him to close his office … more

    No Tics here

    By on

We live out in the country so we arent taking any chances. Between Interceptor Plus and Serresto Flea and Tic collar we have her covered. Our dog appears to be free of fleas and we havent found any tics on her. Why I dont know, but she loves to plop down and lay right in the middle of my flower bed. there is thick ground cover in there that she could pick a tic up is she was going to.

    Lower price

We have been getting interceptor for our 2 dogs directly from our vet. Now getting it from Chewy is saving us a ton of money, not to mention the convenience of having it shipped right to our house. Thanks Chewy

Great Product - Small Ordering Hiccup

    By on

This product was recommended to me by my vet and has been great for my doggo. She's adopted and we think she's a 6 year old Shepard/Rottweiler/Beagle mix. She's experienced no adverse reactions in the year and a half she's taken this product, and no bad news at the vet! I would recommend the product for sure. The 4 star review is mostly due to the process of ordering this item. There was a small hiccup when ordering because it requires a prescription from your vet. Chewy reached out to my vet's office via fax, but my vet's office doesn't have a fax machine and when I spoke to them they said they've told Chewy this many times. In the end it all worked out after a few clarifying phone calls. Just This product was recommended to me by my vet and has been great for my doggo. Good price & Communication re: Interceptor Prescription

    By on

I ordered the Interceptor for our new dog Belle with information regarding my veterinarian. I received an email from Chewy that I needed to contact my vet regarding obtaining a hard copy of the script. I emailed back and forth a couple times with Chewy to understand exactly what I needed. Appreciated their contact during this time in attempting to obtain my prescription. The price was also good.

    Prescription Order for My Dog

    By on

I always order regular pet items from Chewy, but due to COVID-19, this is the first time ordering a prescription from Chewy, rather than picking it up at my vet's office. Ordering & delivery went smoothly.

    Timely Manor

    By on

Chewy's order came in a very timely manor as this has to be approved by a vet because it is a prescription. It was also very reasonable in cost. My dog thinks it is a wonderful treat every month!

    Great Service

    By on

Since it is hard to review a medication I don't take, I will review the service. I love that Chewy calls my vet to get approval for this medication. I also really like the quick shipping and clean packaging. Thank you Chewy for making my job as a pet owner so much easier. Instead of running around spending time trying to find a good deal and getting prescriptions where they need to be, I can spend time with my pet while Chewy does what they do best.

    Best Pharmacy prices!

    By on

I use Chewy for all my Ridgeback's medication needs. It's so easy. I select the medication and select the option for them to contact my vet for the prescription and that's it. Plus their prices are so much better than the vet can offer. And for my 127 lb dog I need that! I have to order these interceptors as well as the ones for dogs 50-100 lbs so it really adds up.

    Always perfect

The shipping and packaging arrived perfectly. I am not sure I saved any money by ordering instead of buying them at my vet
