About Royal Canin Urinary Health for Dogs

Worried About Your Dog’s Urinary Health?

Your veterinarian is the expert on your dog’s health, so you should always consult with this trusted advisor to find the best urinary health solutions for your pet. Royal Canin works closely with veterinarians to develop dog formulas that support urinary tract and bladder health.

How Can Nutrition Help?

Your veterinarian may recommend a Royal Canin Urinary dog food formula for your best friend. These special formulations can:

Dilute Urine

This helps your dog urinate more often, which can help minimize time for stones to form.

Lower RSS

RSS methodology predicts urine crystallization and is used to develop diets that reduce the risk of stone formation.

Maintain Balance

A precise mineral balance can also help prevent stones from forming.

Set Up Autoship for Consistent Delivery

Last-minute dietary changes can sometimes upset your pet’s stomach. Set your Royal Canin pet food order to Autoship to keep feeding on track and avoid unwanted disruptions.

About Royal Canin

What sets Royal Canin apart is their close collaboration with veterinarians. Through these professional partnerships, they strive to learn everything they can about pet health, including how different formulas perform for different breeds, sizes, lifestyles and therapeutic conditions. Ongoing research and development allows Royal Canin to keep providing the precise nutrition dogs need for a range of medical conditions.

Questions & Answers

5 Customer Questions

has anyone found that this helped dissolve calcium phosphate or oxalate bladder stones?
Answer by ChewyJan 09, 2022
This variety is designed to help dissolve and prevent pure struvite stones and helps prevent calcium oxalate stones. It also lowers the risk of crystal formation using RSS methodology for bladder health.

Explain the thin slices. Is it like slices of thick dog food (like sliced cranberry jelly) or like thin slices of food in a gravy (like chipped beef)?
Answer by ChewyJan 26, 2020
This product contains thin slices of food which are bite sized chunks in a gravy.

what does 'so' mean?
Answer by ChewyJul 23, 2021
SO stands for struvite oxalate. This formula promotes a urinary diet that is unfavorable to the development of calcium oxalate and struvite crystals.

Calorie content per can

it’s a watery broth now not gravy

Wow, this food has really changed and I’ve been buying it since 2016. Hey, I get it, there’s inflation. But to charge way more and then switch the formula at the same time from a gravy to a watery broth and the broth is 25% of the can? I’m not paying for water. I calculated I’m going through a case a week sooner so it’s money in Royal Canin’s pocket. A case used to last me a month, now it’s 3 weeks. Don’t buy it. I switched to the urinary so in loaf formula and it’s fine. My other dog gets Just Food for Dog’s dog food and although the price has gone up too, the quality hasn’t changed. What’s up, Royal Canin? This is shameful.

Loves SO chunks

For some reason my American Akita prefers chunks over the loaf. He loves it

If you have to feed a prescription diet

at least it is appetizing to the dog that has to eat it! Nothing worse than spending a lot of money for a specialized diet, and your dog won't eat it. Ruby loves this food and licks her bowl clean every day.

Great dog food

My little chihuahua mix was very Sick with badder stones. The vet had prescribed Hill brand for the stones, she would not eat it and was still very sick. The vet changed the food after 30 days to the Royal Canin S/O and she loved it. This is a very picky little dog who refuses to eat any dog food but loves this. I am grateful!!! She is finally feeling better and still loving the food.

A great substitute for my dog’s previous canned food

This is perfect for my Havanese with recurring bladder stones. It agrees with his system and he loves the taste. This was recommended by the internal medicine vet and I am thrilled to have it delivered to our door by our pals at Chewy. Perfect!
