Continue to Canada siteRoyal Canin Urinary SO Moderate Calorie Thin Slices in Gravy is a veterinary-exclusive wet dog food developed to nutritionally support your adult dog’s urinary tract and bladder health. This formula promotes a urinary environment unfavorable to the formation of both struvite and calcium oxalate crystals. It increases the amount of urine your dog produces to help dilute excess minerals that can cause crystals and stones. Relative Super Saturation (RSS) methodology is used to help lower ion concentration in urine, which contributes to stone formation. Lower urinary tract issues may be a recurring concern for some dogs. Talk to your veterinarian about keeping your dog on this urinary dog food for long-term urinary support.

Like some of the other recent reviewers, I see that the food is not the same as previous orders. The gravy is pale yellow globs of fat, where it previously looked like regular gravy. It made my little guy sick. Chewy's customer service is terrific and they are allowing me to return the remainder of the case. I did call Royal Canin to ask if the formula for this product has changed and was told that it has not. Their explanation is that the heat during shipping is causing the fat to separate from the meat slices. I would think that the heat would cause the fat to liquify, not solidify. Either way, my confidence in this product isn't great, and I am going to ask the vet about alternatives.
My comments are the same as several of the other recent reviews. We have been feeding this to our dog for a while since our vet recommended a lower calorie option. The last 2 shipments looked very different than the product we have been feeding our dog. So different that I contacted Chewy thinking the food had gone bad and I wasn’t willing to feed it to my dog. Chewy sent a return label, I packed all the cans back up (except the 2 I had opened- I opened 2 because the first looked nasty and I thought it might just be that can- nope!), and dropped it off to ship back. Chewy sent me another case, but unfortunately the food looked the same. I appreciate Chewy doing their part. I contacted the manufacturer and they say nothing has changed, which makes me even more skeptical since others are saying the same thing. I might have felt more confident feeding my dog the food if they said they changed the formula or something, but flat out saying it’s the same feels like a deliberate lie. I will be looking for a completely different line of food (we feed our dog both the dry and wet version of this) that I feel is more trustworthy.
We have been feeding this to our dog for over a year. It used to be really great quality food that our dog loved. The last 2 shipments have had a yellow fat appearing substance in the can. It’s been very frustrating as I don’t want to feed this to my dog. We are currently switching to a new product due to the poor quality this food has turned into. Will say though- Chewy has excellent customer service! Thank you for your help in addressing this issue Chewy!
I recently received a box of the above order. Inside each can they are covered in a yellow thick jel like substance instead of the gravy. My dog will not eat her food now unless I remove the jelly substance.
My dog loves this now I'm a little scared to feed it to her. There is so much gravy and now it is thick and nasty looking. I tried rinsing it off and it just clogs my sink. Makes me wonder what am I feeding my dog and paying heavily for?
Way too expensive for canned food, just because it’s a prescription diet. Why is it yellow? and why does it smells bad? This is the last time I buy this stuff!
Our dog is on a urinary care diet and the Royal Canin moderate calorie urinary care canned food must taste good because Chewy seems to really like it- very moist and appears to be of good quality.
Not happy with this stuff! Has little meat and all kinds off this nasty looking yellow stuff that looks like a fatty substance. I've had it before but never looked like this.
We started feeding our Pekingese, Kye, Royal Canin Urinary SO Loaf and Urinary SO dry food in May 2017 due to frequent UTIs and the possibility of bladder stones. Using both the Urinary SO wet and dry food has cured her urinary issues! Over the years, Kye has become a little more sedentary so we felt a moderate calorie food would help with her weight. We switched to the Moderate Calorie Slices in February 2021, she loved it and so did we; however, we have noticed the past two shipments of this food are quite different previous ones. There is now far more gravy than slices in the cans. We reached out to Royal Canin about the decrease in quantity of slices in the canned food. They responded very quickly and asked for can lot numbers. We received this response a few days later: "Changes in the texture of the wet product are usually due to slight variations in moisture. While we make every effort to maintain consistency throughout our product line, most variations occur naturally because of variations in moisture in the raw materials and unfortunately cannot be avoided." "In the manufacturing process defined by AAFCO, there is a maximum allowable variance that is acceptable for wet product. We reviewed the average fill level on this production run, and the average was within our tolerance range." While we appreciate the quality of Royal Canin products, we are sadly disappointed in the recent increase in excess gravy in this food, especially as the cost has increased.
My little senior frequently suffered from kidney stones and UTIs, so our vet suggested this diet. We have had no further issues the last two years. While I wish the price was more “friendly”, I credit it for helping my girl live a more comfortable and painless life. Lately, I’ve noticed the cans come with much more gravy instead of meat though. It’s an issue that I hope is fixed soon. The price has gone up, but we’re receiving more gravy than morsels. In the mean time, I’ll be buying the loaf version.
