"Roundworms in cats are parasites that live in the intestines. Roundworms eat partially digested food and can be a particular health concern for kittens and older cats with health issues. Cats and kittens may experience vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, dull coat and a pot-bellied appearance from this parasitic infection, and large numbers of roundworms can cause poor growth and even be life-threatening in kittens. Kittens are usually dewormed during their first few vet visits, and vets will usually test the feces of adult cats whenever a roundworm infection is suspected."
"You do need a prescription for roundworm medicine for cats. Your vet may prescribe a dewormer for your cat or kitten after diagnosing roundworm, or she may suggest a monthly flea medication that includes a roundworm-controlling anthelmintic. Many oral flea medications contain ingredients that treat and control parasites like roundworms, hookworms and tapeworms, and some are formulated with heartworm preventatives, too. Talk to your vet about which ones might be right for your kitty, then order from the Chewy pharmacy and have them shipped right to your door. We can contact your vet directly for the prescription, so the process is convenient and easy!"
