I love this water fountain except for one very important thing- cleaning the inside of the “cloud” is impossible. They should make it where it comes apart for those that use tap water with minerals. Can’t have fresh water when what it comes out of is dirty. I’ve put the “cloud” piece in the dishwasher, I’ve soaked it, I’ve tried baking soda and vinegar inside it and sat overnight…….but can still tell it has a light pink/brown discoloration on the inside. I’ve used a straw cleaning brush as best I can but still not satisfied. I use a new filter about every 2 weeks with 2 dogs - 1 large. 1 small. If you don’t change the filter when it gets dirty (however long that is based on how many dogs you have), it will not create the fountain effect. Would recommend for small animals but not family with large dog just because they tend to slobber more and release debris after eating which makes you have to change filter a lot more often and cloud gets dirtier quicker.
To start, the set-up instructions didn't feel very clear. I may have just been running on low brain power though. I have a new kitten who would continuously splash out an entire auto-waterer in a day. I assume he prefers moving water instead, but I have a Persian who HATED our old fountain. Not only does my Persian seem to be okay with this one, it keeps such little water on the surface that the kitten couldn't splash even if he wanted to (and there's nothing for the Persian to knock over.) Bonus points for being ceramic, as it holds less bacteria then a stainless or plastic fountain. Plus, it's cute!
Anyone giving this fountain a bad review doesn't know what they are doing. You must periodically soak the motor in vinegar to keep it running without blockage from mineral and scale build up. This causes low flow. I do it once a month and wash it out. It's easy to clean everything else every 2 weeks. It was not to bad getting it together and once you do it one time then it will be easy. My cat loves it. It is one of her favorite fountains of all time. She is 15 so she has enjoyed many. My only cons: that the replacement filters don't fit flat. I just tilt them to the side and they seem to do fine. I also would love replacements for the foam. I just wash it thoroughly but it would be nice to have that option. I also wish the cloud could come open to wash out the inside. I use a thin bottle brush in it.
I just don't understand how the replacement filter and pump are meant to fit inside the filter housing. There is no way to fit the pump and filter cartridge inside. The instructions do not go into specifics on how to orient these items for the best fit. Very frustrated. I have assembled much more complex cannister aquarium filters dozens of times. I know how these are supposed to work. I do not like how the filter housing is designed whatsoever, it's simply too small to pack all the parts inside it.The suction cup feet on the bottom of the pump are supposed to suction to what, exactly? There is no room for them to suction to anything in the housing box. The dimensions of the replacement filter are simply too big to fit inside the housing too. Do I snap it in place somehow, without breaking it? I feel like I've been tricked. I'm sure this fountain would be nice if I could get past the hardware assembly. Can Chewy please upload a video of the pump and filter assembly? The written instructions do not go into detail. I need help. I must be missing something obvious here. No other reviewers are having this problem. Quite frustrating.
This is needlessly difficult to assemble, with a filter that doesn't seem to fit. I had to enlist the help of my neighbor, an engineer, who had to watch a how-to video. But once it was together, it was great. Quiet, efficient, and nice to look at. My cats seem to love it. I like that I don't have to keep multiple water bowls filled. Just fill this once in a while, and it's great. I didn't receive the extra filters I ordered with it, but c'est la vie.
It’s lovely, easy to set up, runs very quietly - but the cat just won’t deal with it. Will try a fountain with a more evident water flow. Giving this one to another cat friend whose fur baby may like it better.
I have cats & over the years, I've bought various water fountains. Unfortunately, they were a pain between changing out the filters constantly, hard to clean, bad pumps, or cats decide it's a toy instead of a drinking source. I took a chance on this fountain & so glad I did - cats actually drink from it & it is easy to clean. We're happy! 😺
It’s good till you bump it while cleaning. It chipped along the edge- which caused a hairline fracture along the entire bowl I have a years worth of filters Looking for a better water source for my thirsty cats .
The thing is cute, but it's also poorly designed. The design of it is this: a pump pushes water up into the cloud which then drips water down into a very small part of the very large blue ceramic plate, except that, water prefers the path of least resistance which is often straight back down the plastic part it's supposed to be going up. Either the cloud should be screwed on or the pump should be pump harder, either way, water often doesn't end up where your animals should be able to drink it. Additionally, and possibly most importantly, the concept of the water fully hidden means that unless this is working properly, your animals will have no water.
I very seldom leave product reviews, but in this case, I felt like I needed to. Do not purchase this fountain. I've had several cat fountains over the years, and none are perfect, but this is just a mess of a design. The pump is too weak to push any water into the basin with any actual volume. The filter is too small for the amount of water in the basin - it clogs nearly daily. It's impossible to clean without making a holy mess. Just don't purchase this product.
