So just how is their kibble made?

Instinct cooks their kibble at 180-200 degrees, depending on the extruder. A conventional oven environment is not present, but an extruder environment. An extruder eliminates all oxygen in the cooking process, therefore eliminating many of the variables that would be present to destroy some of the nutrients. All of Instinct's kibble has a freeze-dried raw coating on them. The manufacturer uses cold pressure processing to keep their raw recipes safe.

I did a lot of research and it looked like one of the better ones, and also my dog loved it! But then I noticed there was literally a piece of plastic baked into one of the kibbles... I expected better, especially for the price! I try really hard to find food that is good for my dog, but I obviously don't want her eating plastic so I won't be purchasing this again.

You always had to wash your hands afterwards. I was looking for food with low carbs so no sugars. This food seemed to be the trick. He has been on it for 4 months and the smelly ears have gone away along with the oily fur and it's a joy to pet him now. The only con is that it is expensive.

I don't mind the small kibble but my large dog (115 lbs.) started having lots of plaque buildup because of the size of the kibble. I switched him to a larger kibble (different brand unfortunately) and it's much better. I contacted Instinct asking if they plan to create a larger kibble and they said they are considering it. The ingredients appear to be good quality and since I’ve been feeding them this food, there’s been a decrease of rashes, itching, and licking. And the boy eats all his food now. Thank goodness.

As for Instinct the only way he'll eat it is if I smother it in canned Taste of the Wild. So I guess I'll keep searching. By the way Instinct is the highest rated kibble out there by "Dog food advisor" I liked the idea of coating grain free kibble with freeze dried raw meat, but it does smell fishy.
