What percentage of phosphorus does each serving contain?

Is the lamb raw and dried or cooked then dried?

Answer by ChewyApr 03, 2024
Ziwi mixes the raw ingredients before laying them flat on the trays and placing them in special air driers. The food gently air dries over many hours at a low temperature until it reaches the correct Aw (water activity level) to create a safe shelf-stable product.

How many calories are in a 1/2 cup of this food?

Answer by ChewyJun 01, 2019
This recipe contains approximately 159 calories per half scoop.

I’ve only given this 4 stars because there was a lot of dusty crumbs in the packet. My cats both tend to leave this. I am getting another and hopefully the crumbs were a one off. I used it as a topper and stand alone meal. As a meal I did soak it in warmish water for a little bit. I decided to change from Wellness because my cats poo’s were becoming very soft and smelly. I tried probiotics and nothing seemed to help. After a few days it was like a litter tray miracle! No horrible smells and small and hard. I am using the Ziwi wet food as well. Yes this is more expensive and I mean a lot more, but you get what you pay for. I am finding that I am feeding less food. One of my cats Merlin can be fussy. He never turns his nose to this. Caution when introducing a greedy cat give a small amount like a couple of pinches. Merlin loved it so much he gulped it down like it’s his last meal and vomited it up within minutes. I have learnt the hard way that he does this with foods he really loves. But if I give a pinch then wait say 30 minutes another and repeat until recommended amount which I give a little less then he is fine. Now he knows it’s a regular he’s not rushing. The “clean” ingredients are the key I think. Just a quality product.

Ziwi Peak Lamb gives solid stool!

I have had a rescue Sphynx (Bambino - he’s part munchkin) for the past 6 months and I have been struggling so hard to find the correct food that works well with him. He’s had diarrhea since day one and even had it with the lady he was staying with prior to me and he always felt sick and slept often. I tried several different foods and proteins, I even tried prescription diets from the vets and it helped to some degree, he still had soft stool. Then I stumbled upon Ziwi Peak and figured, why not give this a try! Doesn’t it figure the most pricey cat food is the one that works and he loves the most? I find the price to be the only downfall to this food, but it’s so worth it!! He’s gone from going to the litter box 3 times a day with stinky diarrhea that would clear a room to pooping once a day and it’s finally normal, firm stool. I’m so thankful for Ziwi Peak, it really was a life saver for the both of us.

My two cats are both annoyingly picky eaters. One of them likes crunchy treats and was a kibble fiend and the other likes soft treats and soft food. My kibble lover is obsessed with this and I’m very glad because it’s a much much better option than kibble! It is kind of high in fat but I don’t really mind because it makes him absurdly soft and probably helps with hairballs too. He used to have really dry flaky skin but now he almost looks greasy, his skin is so hydrated. My soft food lover gets instinct freeze dried but my crunchy boy is a ziwi air dried fiend. And I love the lamb option, a pretty rare protein!

We don't know what took us so long to discover ZiwiPeak but we're so glad we did last year ! All 7 of our kitties love it, we rotate the flavors every month and they have really bettered in their health according to our vet! Our babies , in the last year, have lost a few pounds (our poster child Raymond went from 18 pounds to 15 since switching from Friskies kibble to ZiwiPeak and the vet says he's the healthiest she's seen him!) , they have way more energy to play throughout the day, their fur is sooo soft now ! It's truly Day and night from the kibble they used to eat! We wish we had discovered ZiwiPeak sooner, our babies deserve it!

I feed the Ziwi air-dried lamb, beef and venison. At first my cats weren't sure what to think but I was persistent and now they love it. Their coats have improved greatly and they were a little underweight before, and now they are back where they should be! Hydration and moisture content in food is very important to cats so I reconstitute this food with warm water before I feed it (I let it soak 20 mins in just enough warm water that can be absorbed). My other cats that are not fed Ziwi eat raw. I feel this is literally the next best thing to raw...

Got this for a single-protein, lamb-only diet while trying to diagnose allergies. She loves it so much and I see improvements in her health and mood, so I’m going to keep using this food in combination with the canned wet version from Ziwi. The pieces are also small enough to dispense from my Petlibro automatic feeder.

First off: the quality of the product is without question. It is great and good company practices. You do get what you pay for, but it is really hard to pay for for the majority of people. I actually first discovered this when I was volunteering (and using for myself) the local food bank, and the pet supply store donated some venison flavour that just expired. My cat loved it, I used it as a chow topper (~1/4 scoop over his other chow). He's a long, lithe, 14lb tabby who is outside a lot. When I discovered how expensive it was I switched to the lamb, the 2.2lb bag subscription, and bought it when he would lose weight in the summer otherwise because it is so calorie dense. If I fed him exclusively this food, I would spend more to feed him per month than I do for myself (and I am a chef). Some caution for purchasers: cats are notoriously picky eaters and may not like some flavours. This is really frustrating if you just spent over $50 on a bag of food. If your cat is a weirdo like mine who only likes "wild" sorts of meats like venison, salmon, pheasant, rabbit, etc but HATES chicken, turkey, and whatever "whitefish" they put in foods, then you are in luck with the venison or lamb. If your cat is the generic chicken eater, try that (but be aware that mussels are in there too, for those finicky non-seafood kitties). Find a rich friend who will let you mooch a baggie to try on your cat first if you can. Also remember, cats may take a day or two to adjust to anything new in their bowl, regardless of taste.

I honestly wanted my cat to like this soooo much I heard so many good things about ziwi peak air dried food and was looking for an alternative for kibble. My cat eats everything he is a menace so for the first 2/3 weeks he was eating it cuz I mixed it with the instinct freeze dried food that he usually eats but after a while he would literally not eat it and would eat around it and then he threw it up. This would’ve been such a good option but he just didn’t like it which was very weird but it’s very expensive so I would recommend getting a sample or something first before buying a big bag and seems to be a hit or miss for cats. Love ziwi peak especially their wet food but this was just a miss for me unfortunately.

RAW, gently dried food (NOT kibble). Our cats love the venison and lamb!

Been looking a long time for a very good, canned and dry raw and this is it! Ziwi Peak canned is 65% raw meat + moisture (then retort cooked in sterile BPA free can) and their dried raw is 90% meat - both contain chelated vitamins (easier digestion) and also include organs for those vitamins that both cats and dogs cannot synthesis plus mussels (and some have fish) for additional health benefits. NO grains, peas and carrots as fillers! No carrageenan (seaweed thickener) or ethoxyquin (fish preservative). All meats are pasture raised & grass fed! Both cats and dogs are carnivores - cats actually obligate and don't need any fillers - Ziwi Peak understands this. We have introduced all of the lamb and venison canned and dried raw. We use the dried raw to top off another favorite brand of 100% raw meat for evening and give them canned in the mornings. Was not hard getting them to eat the canned - took about two weeks as we gradually gave them a little every day with their old brand and increased those amounts (cats instinctually may not trust a new scent so you may have to start with a small amount next to their bowl to get them familiar with the smell as they eat the other brand of food). We sought out raw and high quality canned because of IBS and allergies issues with our cats. Their health has vastly improved and their coats are shinier when they are eating only the ingredients they were meant to eat!

We have 3 cats. Overall, all 3 seem to Love the Lamb. We are still in transition, but I’m glad it’s strong smelling (it’s cat food, not perfume, & cats eat by scent). Orange kitty has had issues since March, maybe before. Diarrhea, lost weight, always hungry. White kitties (2) also seemed to be throwing up a lot, 1 had diarrhea. We changed their food at least 3 times with no success. Finally orange kitty was diagnosed with IBD. He was on an antibiotic which didn’t help, then a steroid, which helped a little but not enough to keep him on it (we’re phasing off). Enter Ziwi! He finally seems like he’s getting full and we think he had his first normal potty experience today, after over six months of issues! I did a lot of research on the best foods for IBD and Ziwi matched everything needed. I’ll update if necessary but so far, it’s worth it’s weight in gold! (They all also eat the canned).
