Mediocre motion detection
This product was...meh. We set it up next to the trash can in our bathroom, as the cat likes to go through that and pull things out. It's hard to find a good angle to set it up so that it will spray the cat but not everyone who walks into the bathroom. But we found a spot that was ok. However, the spray can motion detector doesn't seem to work very well. I will at times move my hand back and forth in front of it repeatedly to no avail, and then at other times it will spray twice when someone moves in front of it once. It also seems to detect the motion of the humans in the room better than the motions of the cat. The only saving grace is that the noise itself (mostly from the can spraying myself or another human) has caused my cat so much distress that he seems to now avoid the bathroom altogether. Not really what I was hoping for, but it did technically achieve the goal.
My 2nd one
A friend bought my first one for me and it finally just gave up the ghost! I had ordered one for my son to have and then I ordered this one for myself. I have a huge male calico cat who loves to get on my sink and sit in the windows above it. Nothing worked to keep him off the counter until I received my first SSSCAT. It appeared to work well until he realized it had run out of spray. I have 2 of them set up in close proximity to the sink and windows. He has now figured a way to jump and not get sprayed most of the time. Unfortunately, I don't think to turn one of them off and I get sprayed and scared several times a day. They are fantastic for your average cat. I really do recommend them. I just have to learn to outsmart this particular cat!
Works decently, but waaaaay overpriced.
There's no reason for this to cost nearly $50. Nor are the refill cans fairly priced, at $20 each (if they're even in stock.) I'd give it a better rating if it wasn't a complete racket.
Semi Does the Job
The product could work better for saving the spray in the can. When the cat gets in the path of this product it sprays air out and scares the cat off the counter. Even with new batteries and tried a second product head it keeps just enough pressure on the can to slowly spray the rest of the air out. Hopefully I just received two product heads that do not function correctly. Semi Recommend this product.
Doesn't reliably work
I don't know if we got a dud or what, but this product is very unreliable. Sometimes my cats can be right up in front of it and it won't trigger. We have tried replacing the batteries. When it does work, the sound is effective. It's difficult to point it in the "right" direction so it actually works, and even then the sensor is entirely unpredictable. Also, the switch to turn on and off is not clear - it's one of those I/O switches where each manufacturer decides what I/O mean. I used sharpie to actually define it.
I've been searching for a product that would keep my cats off the kitchen counters. I put one on each side & the cats no longer jump up.
Very effective, maybe to an extreme. I bought two to keep my two cats off of the counters. It worked but they also kept humans away to and became a nuisance to just quickly do something in the kitchen. My cats became terrified of these things. But when the air canisters were empty I took them down and then the cats realized they weren't there anymore they went right back to there old ways. Currently looking for an effective alternative.
I hope you don’t have arthritis
I hope you don’t have arthritis. You will never get the top on. They do work. I hope you have children to help you. In the meantime, half of the spray is depleted trying to get the top on. Done with them. Way too expensive when half the spray come out, trying to put the top on. Save your money
Stopped working after a few months
I was excited to try this and it seemed to work great at first. I bought it last October and started using it a few months later. It stopped working even after putting fresh batteries in it. So, this only lasted a few months. Bummer.
My training assistant!
So thankful to have found this so that I could have help in teaching my cat to stop jumping on the countertops. It has come in handy and gets him down when I'm not home and backs me up when he jumps up there and I tell him to get down! Then a little spray reinforces my voice. Now he's thinking twice about jumping up there at all. It's working! Thank you!
