Cats vs. Dogs
Reading a few of the other reviews, and it seems this is a cats vs. dogs item. The dogs seem to like it. Not so much for the cats. That holds true fro my house. This was recommended to me to help treat my cat's dandruff. He's not itchy, but half of his body is always covered with dandruff lately. He was curious. I followed directions and added it to his food. He sniffed at it for a while, even tasted it...and then he wouldn't touch it. I tried for several days, but I got tired of wasting food that costs $47/bag, so I guess he's going to keep his dandruss. Would not recommend. (I wish there were samples available for some of these items.)
Both dogs didn't like it
I read a few reviews on this salmon oil and thought it would be worth a shot to try, mainly for my German shepherd who has some skin issues. The biggest issue I had is both of my dogs didn't like it at all. I had to try and mask it with food topper to get them to even eat it. Overall it's not worth it and I saw no improvement in my dog's skin health.
My dogs coat is Amazing now!
I have a 80lb Doberman who has extremely dry sky in the winter and summer! He chews little patches on his butt when he gets dry and irritated and after using this it has helped his coat so much! It’s soft and shiny and he loves the taste of it too! My cat, not so much, but that’s alright! Recommend to anyone with a dog that has dry skin!
woof- be prepared for the breath!
Wow, I know this is fish oil but it makes there breath terrrrible. So So fishy. My husband wont let me give it to them in there dinner because both dogs sleep in bed with us and all we can smell is fish. Because of this I cant really say how good/bad this item is as we arent using it as much as we should be due to the smell.
This is a great supplement to Aggies dry food. Aggie is an all black dog and she definitely has a sheen to her coat which I believe is linked to the salmon oil. She will be 8 years this summer I adopted her when she was 2 and she has been on salmon oil with a few exceptions the entire time. I am sure there are other benefits to taking it, but the most obvious one literally shines through her coat.
Works for us
My puppy loves this, eats it no problem. She's a young french bulldog and had bad dandruff, 2 days after using the oil in her food I saw a drastic change in her skin and coat. By day 5 she was completely fine she he skin was healthy and not flaky.
Salmon oil topping
My dogs LOVE this salmon oil! I tried it out through Chewy and literally a month later had to buy more. It’s perfect to use on their dry food in the mornings and I’ve set it to autoship now so I don’t even have to think about ordering more, it just comes every few weeks.
An all around hit
My dogs like most fish oils but this is definitely a favorite. Their coats feel super soft. What really sets this a part is the bottle and cap are a significantly better design. (They don't leak, make a mess, and make it easy to add to their food.)
So far so good
I've been using this sparingly in my dog's dry food for a week or two now, but so far she loves it. She's a little bit of a finicky eater, so I'm pleased to notice that she is more excited to eat on the days I put this on her food. A few minor downsides--she poops a lot more than normal the day after! And regarding the product itself, it smells pretty bad, and it's really hard to squirt only a little out of the bottle. I have a small dog, so it's difficult to get her the perfect dose so that she gets the benefits, but isn't having accidents while I'm at work the next day. Overall, it seems like a great product. Looking forward to seeing more of the coat effects as the weather gets warmer--I've heard this helps with shedding. I only just noticed that this product is also safe for cats, so I will have to try it with my cat and report back.
Quick, clean, tasty!
Both my dogs love this oil mixed in with their food and go absolutely nuts around dinner time! You get a large amount of product for the price considering most 32 oz bottles go for close to $40. I also love that I don’t lose out on any of the oil with a poorly made leaking pump and I have more control just being able to squirt it in a tbsp and spread it on their kibble good. 10/10 recommend!
