Can I use the device when I’m out of the home and then when I return have the ability to turn it off.

Yes. You turn off the camera on the app and you can turn it back on also on the app.

Do you have to have wifi for this to work?

Peace of mind

I was out of town for about 8 days, and had to leave my 18.5 year old arthritic cat, and his little brother who is on an rx diet. It was so nice to be able to check in and talk to them (they did seem pretty confused though). I was able to turn notifications on, so I knew when they were up and about, as well as peace of mind in what they were eating. For the most part, I had no issue connecting to the camera, and there was the occasional delay. Nothing too major though, and definitely well worth it! This camera made leaving my babies so much better than any other time I’ve left them. Highly recommend!

This camera is great!

I love this camera. It was so easy to set up and was exactly what I needed at a great price too. In no time it was up and running. They give you a couple of weeks of free video service before you get the option to enroll in their subscription service. There’s an option of monthly or yearly. BUT I did buy a small micro card that you can use instead in the camera to save videos on. It saves only 12 seconds of video but I think that might work for me.

Awesome camera

This camera works great! It's perfect for checking in on my pets. The picture is very clear, and the night vision is great! The motion detection works great as well. I highly recommend this camera if you are looking for something easy to use to watch your pets.

HD for 10min at a time

Amazing picture quality. Spent weeks trying to get this GD thing to stay connected to wifi for longer than ten minutes. Went through all available support materials, no luck. Seems like the issue we had was very common. We were just never able to solve it. Massive mistake to ship this product with such terrible connectivity.

Pet Monitor

This camera is easy to setup and works great. I only wish you had the option of setting up one camera on two different WiFi networks and then choose the one you wanted to use. I take it in my car and set it up with my hotspot and I use it in the house with the house WiFi. It requires me to set it up as a new device each time and doesn't save the settings. Otherwise it is great!

Not the greatest pet cam

1st you have to pay for a sub in order for two phones to be connected 2nd only one person can be viewing the camera at a time, but it will be sure to send both of you notifications 3rd if you connect to one wifi, it's not easy to connect to another wifi, my husband had to delete the app and try again. 4th There is NO option on iOS for sound detection.

disconnects

I hate to leave a bad review on a Wyze product because I LOVE my original Wyze cam, but this one has been nothing but disappointing. I bought this to have an updated version at home to watch my cats so I could bring the older one on vacation to watch my dogs while we left them in the rental. This new camera at home did not stay connected to the wifi and I had to send somebody over to reset it. After that, it failed again. I have had both cameras set up and updated in the same house for about a week now. The older camera never disconnects and I have never had any issues with it, but this one never stays connected longer than a single day.

Disconnects from Wifi

This version of the camera constantly disconnect from wifi, whereas my other Wyze cameras (pan cams) do not. Initially it was easy to reconnect to the wifi, but now 2 months into using it, it won’t connect at all.

Did not work for me

I really wanted to like this product and the description/specs appeared to be just what I needed. Honestly when the camera is working, the picture and sound/motion detection are great (works as expected) but my issue is with connectivity. Even though I do have 2.4 Wifi, I cannot figure out how to keep this camera connected. It disconnects often and if I shut the camera off/go off-line, the only way I have found to reconnect is to delete the camera all together and re-add it again. I'm completely frustrated/disappointed and wish the product lived up to its description. I would not recommend this product.

Rarely Works

Will not stay connected to the internet no matter what I do. When it does eventually connected it will only stay connected for a day or two before it goes offline again for weeks.
