  • Awesome for training!

The MM is a useful tool for lots of dog training skills. I am using it for agility, in training independent contacts and weave poles. For dogs who may think the sound is scary, there is an option to turn down the volume at first. My younger pup learned quickly that the beep=good stuff, but we took the introduction slowly and made it fun. The instruction booklet for other uses, like teaching "place" or stays with a high level of reinforcement, is thorough. Very small, dry or semi-soft treats work best-or it will get jammed. I am using a "trail mix" of grain free catfood and other tiny treats, so the reward for my dogs can be as variable as the many settings. The one downside that I have read is that if the remote gets lots or broken, to get a new one is costly. Hopefully the manufacturer will make that a more affordable item, if it needs to be replaced. Very happy I finally got a MM for myself to work with my dogs, after borrowing from a friend. … more

  • Great Training Tool!

    By on

LOVE this training game/tool! Comes with so much more than I expected and the manual is super easy to follow and gives great advice! The couple of short sessions I have had with it have been so much fun! My dog really enjoys working with it! Sometimes it can jam up if you don’t have enough kibble in it but that’s not enough of a reason to not give this product 5 stars! Also it was shipped out the very same day I ordered it and took less than 2 days to ship! Highly recommend!!!

  • Works well!

    By on

Works very well and is easy to set up and use. May be more expensive than some other types but I think it is worth it - it is durable with a great design and very reliable. Comes with a "short form" and more extensive instructions for the "so inclined".

  • Great training tool

It took my dog about 48 hours before he wasn't scared of the Manners Minder. Since then, however, he loves it and gets very excited when it comes out. He has become a better behaved dog since the Manners Minder entered his life!

  • Has helped me and my dog tremendously with training

I've waited about 4 months to write my review for this item because I wanted to have a complete experience to report. Having an exuberant dog that even 1 hour daily walks, treadmill training and using traditional food puzzles and dispensers didn't seem to calm in the slightest, this has been a gem! Upon first inspection, I thought it was merely a remote controlled food dispenser with a few options to increase calm and patience with a positive training protocol. But, I THOROUGHLY READ THE MANUAL and WATCHED the DVD. It is a complete training package to improve your dog's behavior and particularly manners. It has become our routine twice a day, for 15 minutes or less, every day to do the exercises I've waited about 4 months to write my review for this item because I wanted to have a complete experience to report. Some others have commented on how the DVD is worth every penny by itself, we wholeheartedly agree in our home. The key is not to make any assumptions or take any shortcuts and constantly review the proper techniques. We love that the DVD shows you both what to do and not to do. It's so handy to rewind constantly. We probably watched some segments 10+ times. After a year of what felt like trying everything, we consulted a veterinary behaviorist who introduced us to the Treat and Train. It's wonderful to have a product and process that feel fool-proof and positive. As for the product jamming, we just can't complain about that. There are multiple sizes of the spinners that allow the food to be dispensed and we have had it jam very few times. It's most likely to jam as the food/treats diminish to the last few. We use Zignature kibble at meal times with the Treat and Train and use Zuke's Natural Minis when we do an extra session with treats and very few problems...less than 10% of the time. We feel by following the training methods provided and using the Treat and Train, we made more progress in just a couple of days than months of training without it. We give it the highest accolades. We're appreciative of Dr. Yin, her techniques and her remote dispenser...so are guests when they come to our home! … more

  • Treat and Train

I ordered this item on a Thursday. It arrived on Friday! The only problem is that the battery for the remote wasn't included in the box. Easy to use, and it didn't take our shy dog long to like it.

  • Great for food motivated pets

Used on my 10 wk puppy who I had did prior manner training at meal time so this was basically used to take this training to the next level. It works great. Plan to use to reduce unnecessary barking. Used target tool to introduce come command on my 10 week old puppy outside today and it worked great (feed treats from hand once he touched the target).

  • Remote training

    By on

Love this. It releases a treat remotely as many times as you press the remote and carries 1-2 cups of treats so you never run out in the middle of training. My dogs go crazy when they see it because they know they will be training and receiving rewards for their efforts. I bought 2 and am thinking of getting 1 more. Best remote trainer I've used.

  • Really great product

I really like this machine. I tried cheerios at first and my dog was not crazy about them. Then I tried her kibble. She was not thrilled with this either. So next I am going to try a Primal product which is small round jerky. It will be a little more expensive than I want, but I think she will go for that.
