Do small clumps become sawdust?
Answer by ChewyJul 15, 2018
Sawdust byproduct from lumber mills is collected and compressed into tiny pellets to make this litter. These pellets act like tiny sponges that absorb urine and break apart into sawdust.

Love this!

True this product creates a lot of dust and our cats do leave dusty footprints but we give it 5 stars because of the odor control and it is so much easier to clean than clay or crystal type litter! With other odor control litter, we could smell the air fresheners and with this pine litter we smelled a woodsy scent at first and then don't smell anything at all. It's been a month and our cats still have their other litter box with the clay litter next to the pine litter and they only use the pine litter box!! Also, we don't have to clean our cats paws or legs anymore because the pine dust does not get stuck to their fur (we have a very plush Ragdoll and a long haired Norwegian Forest Cat). Sweeping up sawdust is wayyy better than having "sand" under your feet!! And although kitty's face might get dusty, it comes right off easily! You can't beat the price either!

Messy Mistake

I've been using Feline Pine, NON-CLUMPING for years and I just love it! No smell, minimal dust. Great product. BUT I thought clumping would be easier, and wanted to stay with this brand. It's nearly all dust already when you get it. Pouring into the litter box creates such a heavy dust cloud, I felt I needed a mask! A few hours later, I noticed Sally Cat had urinated and I was eager to see if the clumping quality outweighed the dust factor. It doesn't. It doesn't clump and kitty leaves lots of dusty litter on the floor every time she uses the pan. I'm going to keep the unused "clumping" litter in the garage and use it to help with soaking up water the next time we have a heavy rain and my garage takes in a bit of water. At least it does absorb moisture, and it will help with clean up. Never again! Back to my basic Feline Pine, non clumping, non platinum, basic litter. Better than all the rest!

Not the Best

I had to make a switch in litter since my boy was diagnosed with kidney disease. He pees a lot more now and the clay litter I was using just wouldn't clump quick enough and would get caked into his back paws. I thought I'd try a pine based litter since I'd heard that it clumps fairly well. If it does, it's not really the case for this brand. At least not for my cats. The pee balls mostly just end up crumbling apart, making scooping all the pee up nearly impossible. It's also INCREDIBLY dusty. It's left dust all over the tops of both litter boxes that I have and it can't be good for my cats to breathe in. I'll be switching to another type of litter. I suggest you choose another brand if pine litter is what you're after.

Worst Litter Ever

I don’t normally leave a review. I believe in trying to be positive. But this litter was so bad I almost left Chewy for good. First order was OK I expected dust in a wood product. Second order was a very fine dust, dust I repeat. The inconsistencies between the two orders was crazy. I’ve only given it a one star because the review won’t let me post unless I select one.

Worst product ever

I bought this because I was buying feline pine when my kittens were kittens and I have a cat that has breathing problems now that he's an adult. This has more dust than any litter ever has and it's the most messy thing I've ever used. It is not the normal feline pine that I was buying even though it labels itself as that. I wouldn't suggest buying it It's a complete mess it gets everywhere It's hard to clean up and it's a waste of money. It was also supposed to be a double pack deal and they sent me one even though I'd put the double pack in my car.

Not for me.

Odor control is pretty good but this is the dustiest litter I have ever used; I even tried mixing it with my wheat litter which I'm going to keep using. My cats stir up the dust and I have to take my boxes outside where every little shake of the scoop creates a dust cloud. My black litter mat is just covered in dusty paw prints. The wheat litter tracks some, but it's easier to clean up than all the dust.

Very dusty

This stuff is so dusty. I have to wipe off Fuzzy's feet after she uses the litter box. She comes out with little dust boots and sneezes. Three starts because it clumps well. There is no cat box odor in the house. I will not purchase this again.

Great product! Great odor control!!!!!

I highly recommend. It 100% controls odor! I have 2 males and 1 female. I like the natural litters because they are lighter and easier to clean for me. I've been using a corn one and I like it but you can smell the urine odor. I decided to try this one and I'm so glad I did!

Does'nt clump very well

Doesnt clump very well, the clump disintegrate when using a scooper, the litter is pretty dense too so doesn't work in my auto cat litter box. Was trying this as an alternative to Okocat, gonna have spend a little more and stick with Okocat.

Feline Pine

I so wanted to love this product. I wanted to be able to transition all our indoor cats to it. Thank goodness I tested it on the barn cat first. She doesn’t mind the litter…..but oh it does NOT clump. And the smell of urine is overwhelming….and she does her business outside mostly (except when there’s three or more inches of snow on the ground LOL).
