  • Works great.

    By on

My cat was not even scared of this feeder and used it right away. My other cat does not even attempt to get the food after the lid closed on him and it scared him. It works great. The tag is big but I hooked it on her collar and it works good. She did not like it hanging from her collar.

  • Perplexing

    By on

It took me a little time and effort to set up; have to put in batteries but, before that, have to find the tenny tiny switches that control the frequency and make sure they are both in the same position. Then you put the frequency locket on your cat’s collar. My cat is tiny so it’s like she’s wearing a ball and chain! And, at first, the lid opened and closed as it was supposed to. Lately it has not and I have yet to figure out if if it’s something I did or should be doing. Also, note, the system comes with one bowl—very small—that fits the system. None of my other bowls fit.

  • Poor Bluetooth connection

    By on

I wouldn’t recommend this bowl. I have two dogs and they like to eat each other’s food when I’m not looking so I bought this. The Bluetooth connection from the tag to the bowl is very week. The tag basically has to tough the sensor and getting a dog to sit still and wait for it to connect is near impossible. I would look into other brands. I contacted customer service and they were fantastic. I plan and using chewy in the future for sure.

  • Aggresive food thief

    By on

I got this for my new kitten to prevent my adult cat who is a voracious eater from stealing her food. It has worked great! It has withstood gnawing, whacking and his attempts to muscle in. It is a little slow to close if the kitten was eating for a while before leaving. The tag is large, but not heavy and the kitten got used to it quickly. The lid opening and closing does startle, so is probably not best for a skittish cat. It is light weight, a little too light and I have to keep it in a corner with a barrier to the other side to prevent the thief from intimidating my kitten out of the way while she stands in range. This a great option if you have a food thief, but may need individual solutions I got this for my new kitten to prevent my adult cat who is a voracious eater from stealing her food. • Dog "VIP" bowl

    By on

I have a cat who swears he's always starving and has been caught sneaking kibble out of his canine brother's bowl. Thanks to this bowl, the cat keeps out of the dog food! We're trying to watch our cat's weight, so it's nice to know that whether we are around or not, he won't be stealing dog food. It's also cute watching our Chihuahua get startled initially when the lid opens and then again when it closes. He looks at it like "it's alive!!"

  • Worked great for a month

    By on

For a month, this item was truly a lifesaver. My cat got used to it in a day and it solved the problem of my second cat eating up his brothers food. However, after a month, it just quit on me. I replaced the batteries, and even found a chord to plug into it. No luck. Sad I lost the product and the money.

  • Doesn't work for Cats

    By on

I read a LOT of reviews about this item before purchasing because it seems like a good bit of money to spend on something that might or might not work. My problem was that all the reviews I read were from people who couldn't understand how to get it to work. I decided to purchase it thinking I would have no problems. It's a basic issue with the design of this device. They use IR technology to open the bowl, which means the "tag" has to be pointed directly at the bowl to work. But due to (I'm assuming the motor) the height of the bowl it is too tall for even our largest cat to trigger the bowl to open when he is near. So the problems are that 1. The cat must be tall enough for the "tag" I read a LOT of reviews about this item before purchasing because it seems like a good bit of money to spend on something that might or might not work. • Good product, wouldn't recommend for long-haired cats

    By on

The bowls work really well and overall functioned as intended. I purchased two for my two cats. One of which is a food hog, and one that likes to graze and eat. They adapted to them quickly. There is certainly room for improvement, but there are few similar items on the market. Pros: 1) works as intended 2) easy to use and mysterious cats adapted to them quickly 3) great way to keep your cats from eating each others food. Cons: 1) while the bowls do work well, they didn't work well with my long-haired cat. Her neck is so booshy it would cover up light signal needed to reach the bowl. This caused the lid to constantly close on her head, and made her weary of eating from the bowls. 2) if The bowls work really well and overall functioned as intended. I purchased two for my two cats. • Best purchase I ever made for my cats

    By on

There are some things you need to know to make this a great product. I've seen negative reviews where the people aren't using it correctly. First - each bowl must have the code set to match the tag. Read the instructions. Example, A1 in dish must be A1 in tag. You have 9 combinations A1, B1, C1, A2, B2, etc. Second - I have found that with 3 of my cats I have to clip the tag to their collar. With my 4th (a long haired cat) it works better hanging from her collar. Third - make sure you have good batteries in the sensor. The first sensor I had came with a dead battery. Keep a supply on hand. I go through them about every 2-3 months. Fourth - if you have any problems contact the customer service There are some things you need to know to make this a great product. They have been extremely helpful and have replaced a couple bowls I got that were defective with no problem. I have 4 bowls for 4 cats. The first bowl is now 2 1/2 years old. I bought that because my little cat wasn't getting her fair share of food. When I adopted a 4th cat in Oct 2016, I decided they all should have their own bowls and it's worked out great. My cats are average size (8-13 lbs) and can activate the sensor very well. But a kitten would be too small. I only gave it 5 stars because of their great customer service. There could be a few design improvements. But overall, it's the best thing I ever did. We used to use D batteries in the dish, but now have them hooked up to power. The D batteries in the dish lasted about 10 weeks. I'm going to be purchasing a 5th bowl shortly just to have an extra on hand. I hope they never discontinue them. I recommend them often. … more

  • Not worth it for me

    By on

Product arrived today and as I was putting the battery into the sensor I noticed that the enclosure doesn't close or seal all the way. This makes what other reviewers have noted where their cat would accidentally dip the sensor in their water bowl a concern. I'm not ready to risk the money on that potential. Maybe if this sensor gets redesigned I'll try it again. A smaller sensor made for cats would also be beneficial. It really is rather large for most cats to comfortably wear, especially my 8lb one.
