  • Good product, wouldn't recommend for long-haired cats

    By on

The bowls work really well and overall functioned as intended. I purchased two for my two cats. One of which is a food hog, and one that likes to graze and eat. They adapted to them quickly. There is certainly room for improvement, but there are few similar items on the market. Pros: 1) works as intended 2) easy to use and mysterious cats adapted to them quickly 3) great way to keep your cats from eating each others food. Cons: 1) while the bowls do work well, they didn't work well with my long-haired cat. Her neck is so booshy it would cover up light signal needed to reach the bowl. This caused the lid to constantly close on her head, and made her weary of eating from the bowls. 2) if The bowls work really well and overall functioned as intended. I purchased two for my two cats. I replaced batteries within the first month of owning the bowl. 3) the bowls are rather narrow and deep, and I worried about whisker fatigue. … more

  • Aggresive food thief

    By on

I got this for my new kitten to prevent my adult cat who is a voracious eater from stealing her food. It has worked great! It has withstood gnawing, whacking and his attempts to muscle in. It is a little slow to close if the kitten was eating for a while before leaving. The tag is large, but not heavy and the kitten got used to it quickly. The lid opening and closing does startle, so is probably not best for a skittish cat. It is light weight, a little too light and I have to keep it in a corner with a barrier to the other side to prevent the thief from intimidating my kitten out of the way while she stands in range. • Not worth it for me

    By on

Product arrived today and as I was putting the battery into the sensor I noticed that the enclosure doesn't close or seal all the way. This makes what other reviewers have noted where their cat would accidentally dip the sensor in their water bowl a concern. I'm not ready to risk the money on that potential. Maybe if this sensor gets redesigned I'll try it again. A smaller sensor made for cats would also be beneficial. It really is rather large for most cats to comfortably wear, especially my 8lb one.

  • Broke after 1 week!

    By on

I received the bowl about a week ago. My cat is horribly afraid of this bowl, so I have been trying to get him used to it. I shut the lid by pushing the button on the back, when he is not eating. My other cat is on a special diet and can't have dry food anymore. The other morning I tried to open the device to let my cat eat and nothing happened. A red light on the sensor to the bowl started blinking. I thought the batteries had shifted, so I opened the battery compartment and made sure they were still in place. It still does not work. I foolishly tossed the original packaging, so now I am stuck with this 50 dollar paperweight full of food I can't get out without prying the lid open.

  • My cat took to it in one day

    By on Top 50 Contributor

I have 4 cats. 3 are obese and are on a diet. One likes to graze all day long and is 8 lbs. I can't free feed because the obese cats will just eat it all. I got this so my 8 pounder can free feed. He was already used to wearing a collar so it was no problem having him wear the sensor. He was a little scared at first but by the end of 24 hrs he was eating by himself regularly.

  • It works fairly well

    By on

I have 3 elderly cats with 3 different health conditions. They all need different food. These bowls make it possible for them to each graze on their own food without stealing from each other. They adjusted to wearing collars (not included with this product) onwhich I secured the included microchip tag. The bowls open for them most of the time on the first try. Once I had a bowl that wasn’t responding to the chip. I turned it off and back on and it started opening for the chip again without issue. The placement of the chip tag on the cat is important as it needs to sit high enough and in open view of the sensors on the dish.

  • Sucks and sucks some more

    By on

What can I say? It sucks.... I continue to replace the batteries in it as it continues to die. It opens up even when my pet walks by which uses the battery. Now the collars won’t work! I wish I never bought these bowls and I want to get my money back so I can get something better!

  • Great concept, not quite perfected

    By on

We have 4 cats, 1 with a special diet. We purchased 3 pet feeders and for the most part they are working out. The biggest compliant is that the feeder & transmitter don’t always sync up, leaving a cat without food all day. It can be frustrating trying to figure out what’s wrong. Luckily all our cats are a healthy weight so it’s not affecting their health.

  • Great, but needed to be tweeked

    By on

Works great if you do the following.... You can't use the ring that the tag comes with to hang on the collar. If you do, the tag hangs too low and dips in the cat's food and water bowls and shorts the electrical components. I had to sew it onto the collar to solve that problem. The reason I bought this is because two of my cats eat the third cat's food. In order to prevent them from eating out of the side of the bowl while the cat with the collar is eating, I had to put the bowl between two tall pieces of furniture creating almost a tunnel so that they couldn't get in on the sides and eat his food. Also, don't bother using the battery that comes with it. It would work and then it would stop working Works great if you do the following.... • Keeps closing on my cat

    By on

The bowl keeps closing on my cats head. It’s causing her to stop eating. She’s terrified of the thing. If her head is in the bowl and she’s eating there is absolutely no reason for the bowl to close.
