Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling used cat litter, as cat feces may contain Toxoplasma gondii—a parasite that can cause toxoplasmosis. Pregnant or nursing women, as well as children and anyone with a weakened immune system, should avoid handling used cat litter. Always handle litter in a ventilated area to avoid inhalation. Keep contents and packaging out of reach of children and pets. Seek medical help in case of accidental ingestion.
Use a moisture-proof litter box. There should be enough room for your cat to comfortably turn around in.
Fill the litter box to a depth of 2 to 3 inches, with plenty of pellets for pawing and covering. Remember that Yesterday's News paper cat litter is different than clay cat litter. Having the litter too deep will make it more difficult to find and remove the soiled litter.
Liquid waste is absorbed from the bottom of the pan. It takes a few minutes for all the liquid to absorb.
Remove the soiled pellets when they have absorbed the liquid and have fully expanded in size.
Scoop solid waste from the top of the litter box daily.
Replace the litter weekly.
Only dispose of used cat litter in trash. Do not flush, bury or dispose of it outdoors, in gutters or storm drains to avoid environmental contamination.
Not for internal use. Not meant for use as compost or as a traction aid.
Store in a cool, dry place. Product filled by weight; some settling may occur.

Favorite Natural Litter
on Jul 21, 2018
I have been using this brand for years, and my cats and I love it. I like that it is made from all-natural materials, and I like the size of the pellets which are much easier to pick up off the floor than tiny bits of clay or pine. I prefer dumping the cat box once a week rather than scooping a cat box out, so I like that it's non-scoopable. One of my kitties will actually flick out pieces of this litter with her paw so she can chase it around on the hard wood floors!

Using this litter is a great way incorporate green living into your daily routine with its recycled ingredients. It's lighter than clay litter, which is nice when you're buying a large bag in person. My only regret is that its really hard to scoop out urine. The pellets kind of dissolve or swell and don't clump together. I end up scooping as much as I can but always end up scooping clean litter along with it.
A lifesaver in terms of not tracking
on Jun 23, 2018
My cats were tracking their previous litter all over the apartment, it was a nightmare having to sweep every morning and wipe off little dusty paw prints from every surface. After scouring the internet, I decided on this litter for the large pellet size and minimal dust. There still is some litter that gets tracked, but it is much more manageable, and no more dusty paw prints! My only complaint is that it does not control odor very well, even if you scoop it daily. I have had to mix a different litter in so that my one picky cat (she is a queen and won't use her litterbox if it is dirty) uses it. Other than that, I am very happy with it.
Works great for us!

We have a long-haired cat, and the regular clay litter that we had been using kept getting stuck in the hair in his feet. He tracked it all throughout the house, so we started looking for alternatives. This litter has worked great for us! It took him a little bit to get used to it, and it's not really scoopable, but at least we don't have litter everywhere! :)
Cats give it a 5 Star. I give it 4.
on Jul 2, 2018
Pros: Virtually no tracking, and if there is, it's a large pellet easily seen. Not dusty. No corn or wheat so no worries about spoilage or contamination. Cats like it. Cons: Due to the dark color, it is hard to see the waste as it blends in. Not easy to remove urine-soaked litter, so I just replace everything once a week for two cats. Tip: Disposable litter boxes are great! No washing. No mess. Also available here on Chewy. Chewy always gets 5 Stars!
Zero tracking and dust
on Jun 26, 2018
It's not like clumping litter! It's different. Very absorbent! Does not track at all and we have it in an upstairs bathroom (tiled) with hardwood floors everywhere else. Clean out only what's soiled. And the stools are easy because you don't waste litter. They sell a fresh scent which controls oders very well. We often mix both unscented and scented. Haven't tried the softer pellets yet. But we've been using this for years and understand it's not clumping. Zero tracking and dust!!!
Yesterday's News is Today's Cat Liter Du Jour!
on Jun 18, 2018
I have never liked the dust generated from dry clay liter and especially do not care for 'clumping' liter which I find to be a total mess! Yesterday's News is a bit more $$$ but it works out better because first and foremost, my cat seems to not mind the paper 'pellet' form in the least! Secondly, The absorption factor is fine, it's much easier to clean the cat box, and the unscented variety is by far the best! Thirdly, Yesterday's News is a much cleaner option in general for both household use and for the environment! I have used Yesterday's News for a few years now and will continue to use it while it's available!
Best litter for kittens
on Jun 19, 2018
Young Kittens learning how to use the litter box it’s great to use this product so it doesn’t get stuck in their claws or in between pads on their paws. Ease of changing out litter and scooping soiled spots. Not the best of complete odor control, but scooping feces out regularly and changing the litter as needed helps with that.
Kitties love it, we love it.

I dislike clay litter -- it makes me sneeze. When I noticed that our kitties were sneezing a lot too, I switched to YN, and we don't have any more sneezing problems. Don't like "scooping" litter either -- don't trust all the chemicals. The pieces of YN seem just the right size for our kitties (currently ten of 'em!) from elderly to newborns -- we fostered a preggers mama, and she and two of her kittens became our foster fails. Everybody seems happy with this litter. We clean their litter boxes by scooping out big lumps if we can, otherwise we dump and replace the whole contents of the litter box. This stuff works great and the price is right; we buy the thirty-pound size. Recommended!
