what is the depth setting recommended for a cats ear on the alphatrack2 pen?
Answer by ChewyMar 13, 2019
The lancing device offers 9 different setting. Level 1 is the shallowest depth and Level 5 is the deepest. It's recommended to start at Level 3 as a base setting and more up or down if needed.

I’m using a care touch lancing device. Is this compatible?
Answer by ChewyApr 08, 2020
These lancets are compatible with both the AlphaTRAK or AlphaTRAK 2 meters.

Lancets Were Not Sealed

Not sure what to do with box that was delivered already opened. The lancets seem normal.

Easy to use

Our cat became diabetic and between blood draws and insulin it has been challenging. These lancets are great. Bulk quantity, quality is excellent.

Makes me look like a PRO

I have been doing glucose checks on humans forever as a nurse, but faced with doing it on my CAT? I was terrified. Dr. Google via Youtube had me captivated and motivated. These AlphaTRAK lancets are awesome!!! I chose to not use the little injector since I wouldn't get a second chance, not even sure I would get a FIRST. The cat in the video was well behaved, ate treats during the ordeal and didn't flinch. Ha!. MY cat? I had to lay over the top of him to keep him from escaping, I used a cotton ball with alcohol and a little petroleum jelly to wipe his ear TOP. I then used the same cotton ball to hold UNDER his ear to provide support to poke the lancet into. Aim for the tiny vessel along the edge of the ear, the petroleum jelly makes the blood bead up. Just POKE, like poking for a splinter. Yes Pica flinched. BUT If I poked well once, I didn't have to do it twice. THEN grab the sample, use the cotton ball to apply pressure. Release cat...Gets easier each time, for the human. I felt comfortable within a few days so for 1 day, I did draws every 2 hrs for 12 hrs for a glucose curve test to see how the insulin is affecting glucose during the day. For this you need a dependable source of blood. Lancets are very sharp, work VERY well consistently. Not for home diagnosis or changing insulin dosage BUT the results CAN be given to your vet and discussed.
