shoulda listened to the other reviewers. my cats love these scratch houses and i have purchased several in the past of various brands. im not an engineer, but it seems the two supports (for the top scratcher) should be placed at the very ends, whereas they are placed toward the middle. any time any cat steps anywhere near the edges of the structure, the whole thing comes toppling over. two thumbs down
So, the top wont stay in place UNLESS you use double-sided tape. I see a lot of reviews about the top not sticking in place. I had to reinforce the sides of the scratcher then fit it back into place - sealing the 'bus roof' around it. LOL Now, they babies can sit on top of it. However, I need refill scratchers, at least for the top because that's the one scratched on the most. It would be great if refills were available. Thanks.
My cats really like this, very sturdy cardboard bus! Even the older cats like it. In fact my cat Percy is napping on the top right now. Just wish it were a little longer. Coco Puff is not even one year yet and is very large. He loves the bus and sticks his paws out the windows to play with toys. Little Bunny, is just a year old and is very small. She fits in it fine. She likes to eat in it, because her 4 big brothers can’t get in it, to steal her food!
The top is unstable and, if your cat gets too close to the front or back, it will tip.
The top of this is held in place by two folded thick cardboard strips that go across underneath. They were not strong enough to withstand my Maine Coons' weights (20 and 17 lbs) although both cats loved it and wanted to be on it. It stood up to them for about a day. The other problem with the top is that those braces are 1/3 and 2/3 of the way down (the long way) the "bus". This means that if a small enough cat steps on the front or back, it flips the entire top up. This happened to my kitten (10 lbs but she's still a kitten). I'm still giving it four stars because my cats absolutely love it, and I slid it inside a cardboard box that was just big enough to hold it top to bottom so now they can be on top too. Unfortunately they can't play out the side windows with each other now but it works.
Put it together cat jumped on it and went right through it I would not recommend this for anybody
My kitten who is less than one had this destroyed within minutes
The box in itself is super cute and I know my cat will enjoy it once I put it together. However, the box is made for you to build which is fine, but their “double sided tape” is not at all even sticky enough to hold the sides together. I will be going to my nearest store to buy crazy glue or a hot glue machine to be able to fully build it.
My cats like this cardboard cat scratcher toy. It is a little flimsy, so a FAT cat may not be able to sit on top of it. Salem wanted to help me put it together LOL. See the picture of her in it without the top. They seem to enjoy curling up inside of it.
Similar to other reviews, top is not sturdy. My cats do not use it now.
