This seems like a good scratching post in theory (with feather toys), and I was excited to get it for my cat and new kitten. However, even the kitten tips it over when trying to use it and the older cat won't go near it because the first time she tried to use it, it tipped over. The feathers seem like fun at first, but they shed little orange bits all over the rug, and they're very difficult to clean up. Finally, even my little kitten can't fully stretch out to scratch on this post! It's much too short for any average sized kitty.
We have 5 cats--all rescues--each one will play for sometime with the wands and/or scratch on the post. The wands are also removable and my husband will play with the "boy cats" with these wands, hiding it under a blanket and wiggling it so the boys will "attack' it. Great fun all around. We are on our second Scratch N Spin as they "loved" the first until it was unusable!
My cats loved this! Serves as a scratch post and interactive toy for both to entertain themselves as there are two arms with interesting cat toys. I did have to remove feathers as one cat has asthma but added ribbons back on and they love it just as much! Worth the purchase! Oh - and you have 2 sets of arms should one break off or they tear the ribbons and feathers off!
All my cats love it! The spinning top of the scratch post is great. They sit there spin the top for as long as they want lol
My cat loves this scratcher/toy. It was very easy to assemble and came with replacement wings, which is pretty cool. My cat plays with it all the time. I only wish it was a bit taller as my cat is pretty long.
My kittens love this. I don't know why I thought it was a battery operated toy, so it could spin on its own to attract the kitties. Guess I should have read the description. LoL... Still love this.
After reading the reviews, which were mostly positive, I decided to buy this hoping it would give my cat more activity. Within two minutes of it being on the floor, it broke. My cat went to capture one of the fluffy things and the arm just snapped off. It's also very light weight so my cat knocks it over everytime he tries to interact with it. After turning it back upright for the fifth time, he was disinterested. Complete fail.
Oh, goodness, our cat has not had so much fun with a toy we actually bought since we brought him home. Usually he prefers the shipping boxes. But this? He's been losing his mind over the spinney fluffs anchored to a pole (he's very fond of pole dancing). For the price, a very pro purchase. There are some bits I'm not fond of but would have gladly paid more for. Those being, the base is not weighted and can easily be pulled over if you've got an adult cat who plays rough like ours does. Second, although I don't think this is a price point issue, the base itself is hinged so that it folds in half and is easier to pack for shipping. It relies on the tightness of the bolt holding it to the base to keep it properly flat, which, again, if you have a cat who plays very rough, the sturdiness will probably suffer as the bolt gets torqued out of its socket. Nothing some loctite won't fix, but I kinda wish it was just a solid, non-hinged piece of wood. Still, overall a very decent toy for a good price. Would buy again if I had to!
If you have a cat - PLEASE GET THIS! Cats will be thrilled; you'll be pleased & entertained! Great scratching post and exerciser for indoor cats. "Danglers" spin around & dip & sway when cat pulls on them. My small cat scratches the post & swats at the danglers. My LARGE cat loves to swat, scratch & attack it -- tip it over & then play/scratch more -- that's part of the exercise & fun! For more action, occasionally put on catnip spray or flakes!! Replacement wands add to value - money well spent!
I got this for my newest shelter kitty. We set up a safe place I wanted her to have new stuff that my other cats hadn't used. I really thought this would be better. She's just a small little thing yet she pulls it over attempting to use it that's a deal breaker. It's not at all helpful if it scares the cats. I thought the base would be large enough to keep it upright however, it constantly tips the feathers don't seem to interest any of my cats much to my shock. Oh well at least it wasn't real expensive.
