Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

  • Weight Loss for my Cat

    By on

My vet recommended this high fiber canned food, for my always hungry, 15 pound cat. After transitioning for 1 week to the new food, she happily eats this, and isn't begging for food constantly.

The cats need to lose some weight. They are devouring the food, and they tend to be picky. I'm pleased.

  • Satisfactory

    By on Top 250 Contributor

This product is in the category with high fiber cat can food. One of my older cats needs high fiber for a chronic constipation problem caused by nerve damage from an injury. I also use Royal Canin Fiber Response dry food on a holistic veterinarian recommendation. My cat readily eats the dry high fiber, but he only nibbles on this high fiber wet food. I know the benefits of feeding cats wet food so I will continue feeding him other wet, or try mixing this wet food with baby food.

  • Vet Recommended Change in Diet

    By on

Our vet recommended this food for our 7.5 year old Maine Coon cats and they took to it right away! Chewy couldn't take back the 17 cans of the old rx food because of regulations; however they told me to donate the food to a shelter and then they credited us for the amount we'd paid for it!!! We are so impressed with this company and grateful for their genuine caring for animals!

  • Works well for controlling weight

    By on

Combined with Royal Canin Satiety dry food, my cat Rocket Man has lost 1.2 pounds since the end of January. That may not sound like much, but considering he weighed about 12 pounds, that's 10% of his body weight. He loves this food as much as the non-prescription Royal Canin diets. He is no longer starving after every meal like he was with reduced portions of non-weight loss food. I'll continue with this food as long as Rocket's health allows.

  • Helps with weight

    By on Top 1000 Contributor

We have two large cats (almost 20 pounds each). Our vet says that feeding them wet food will help them lose some of their unwanted weight. This product seems to be doing the job. Stewart and Sidney both are dropping pounds and looking healthier because of it.

Our Vet prescribed this particular food for our cat.. Unfortunately she woudn't eat this. Called your company & they offered a full refund & didn't want me to return, instead they suggested that I donate the food. Which I did. Your customer service was very understanding & did a nice job. Thanks to all of you!!!
