ACTion Programs for Animals (APA) rescues at-risk cats and dogs, mostly from the municipal shelter, in an effort to help our shelter and community reach our collective No Kill goal. We also run the local pet food bank and the prison dog training program in partnership with the Southern NM Correctional Facility. We offer these other services to the public as well: low-cost vaccinations and microchips and dog training classes. We rescue roughly 500 animals per year and run an adoption center as well as our Second Chance Thrift Store.
