About Us
The Animal Care Assistance Program (ACAP) is an all-volunteer 501c3 organization that offers funding to low-income pet owners in rural counties of Central Virginia who cannot otherwise afford pet care for their companion animals. Our goal is to prevent unnecessary suffering of animals, economic euthanasia and pets being surrendered to shelters for financial reasons. We arrange and pay for veterinary services and medications, flea/tick/heartworm preventatives and occasionally provide food on an emergency basis.
