About Us
Beltsville Community Cats is an all-volunteer, non-profit that works with local residents and businesses to employ humane methods to control and over time reduce the feral cat population in Beltsville, MD. We operate three programs to accomplish this purpose: a Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Return (TNVR) Program; a Rescue Program; and a Colony Support Program. Due to our limited funding and restrictions on how our small grants can be used, our volunteers (mostly retired women on fixed incomes) must reach into their own pockets to pay for the cat food and kitty litter necessary to run our Colony Support Program and our Rescue Program. With the increase in the cost of cat food and the increasing number of pet cats being released outdoors into our managed colonies, our volunteers are finding it more and more difficult to continue providing care for these helpless kitties. BCC has TNVRed over 1,000 cats in less than 4 years, placing half of them in forever homes.
