About Us

The Box Turtle Sanctuary of Virginia Is a 501(c)3 and was founded in 2010 in response to the loss of habitat and disappearing populations of our native Eastern Box Turtle, and was formed; To provide long term shelter for native box turtles that have been damaged and/or have lost their habitat due to human encroachment and are unable to be returned to the wild. To Provide sanctuary for EBT’s that were taken from the wild and held as pets and are unable to be released. To Provide educational opportunities to schools, camps and gatherings of people interested in learning more about our native Box Turtles, their lives, and how we can help them survive.
