About Us

I, Danny Raney, started Fort Catamo Cat Rescue 13 years ago after the doctors, thinking I was dying from lung cancer, sent me home from the hospital. However, the real culprit which was attacking my lungs was hystoplasmosis, a disease I acquired from bird droppings. At this time an old declawed cat showed up at my front door whom I later named "Miko." This cat stayed with me, lying on my chest for a little over a week, while I was in severe pain and running 103 degree fever until a biopsy revealed I had a disease thaf could be healed. Miko during this time kept one paw over my heart. And within a year Miko would pass away from lung cancer. During my ordeal I found compassion for the feline population plus a desire to not only help those cats in need but to help all creatures that I can reasonably lend a helping hand to. Presently, two dogs reside here at Fort Catamo also-a mix pit bull with Golden retriever and a lab. The cats here mostly eat Purina Complete Cat Chow and Purina One.
