About Us
The Humane Society of Elmore County is located in Wetumpka, Alabama (Elmore County) just northeast of Montgomery. We are a non-profit, 501(c)3, organization and have been operational for over thirty years at the same location. Our shelter is an Open Admission shelter taking in 4100 domestic animals in 2019 from Elmore County citizens and Animal Control Officers (ACO). We work every day to provide a safe and humane environment for the 250-300 animals in our care and to also find loving and lifetime homes for as many of them as possible.
