About Us
The Humane Society of Utah (HSU) is the state's leading nonprofit animal shelter and pet resource center. Founded in 1960, our mission is dedicated to the elimination of pain, fear, and suffering in all animals. We keep pets and people together, bring them together, and help move each animal to their most appropriate outcome as quickly as possible.
HSU offers the following lifesaving services: affordable community spays and neuters, annual wellness exams, vaccinations, adoptions, training, behavior modification, pet retention and shelter diversion, humane education, and transfer operations. These services are made possible through an extensive volunteer and foster care program, as well as a wide-ranging fundraising program.
HSU will admit any companion animal we can legally accept and care for responsibly, and we work diligently to place every healthy and treatable pet that enters our facility in a loving home. We will never euthanize a healthy, treatable animal for any reason.
