Founded in 2003, Karma Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to end economic euthanasia of pets and prevent shelter overcrowding by providing life-saving aid to low-income families and free spay/neuter services to under-served communities throughout Los Angeles. Economic euthanasia is the heartbreaking trend of animals being surrendered to overcrowded shelters and/or put down because their owners cannot afford an unexpected expense -- over half a million companion animals are euthanized each year.
