Long Away Acres is a 501(c)(3) non-profit equine sanctuary located on a 25-acre farm in East Tennessee. Our mission is to provide a permanent, dignified retirement home for therapy riding horses who have spent their lives helping humans heal. After years of dedicated service, these incredible animals often require specialized medical care, senior diets, and a peaceful environment for their golden years. At Long Away Acres, our herd is never asked to work again. They are here simply to rest, roam, and just be horses. Running an equine sanctuary is a massive undertaking.
