About Us

At Meals on Wheels, we know how important pets are to our homebound seniors. Research shows that pets can help lessen depression and feelings of loneliness - and they are great companions! Besides the friendly face and hot meal brought by our volunteers, many Meals on Wheels recipients depend on their pets to keep them company throughout the day. Pets provide companionship and often a sense of purpose to these seniors. But taking care of a pet - feeding, grooming, and veterinary care - can be physically and financially difficult for our homebound seniors. That is why our Pet Food Program is so important. We don’t want any senior to lose a pet because of the inability to purchase pet food. Each week, we deliver pet food to nearly 100 pets – that includes dogs, cat and some birds.
