Ocracats is a non-profit organization that helps the feral cats on Ocracoke Island. We feed, spay, and neuter the cats to try to control the population. Kittens that are born to the village Ocracats are fostered with great care until loving homes are found. We hold trap-neuter-release clinics at least once per year. Over the past ten years, Ocracats has spayed/neutered over 600 cats and adopted out dozens of kittens. Medical care and follow up treatment are provided for injured or sick Ocracats. The entire organization is run by volunteers who generously give of their time, energy, and most of all, love, to watch over and care for our beloved island feral colonies.
