About Us
Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, care for, and find permanent loving homes for stray, abandoned, and unwanted cats in Wyandot County. At Ohio Alley Cat Rescue, we advocate for responsible pet ownership and the protection of animal rights including the lives of all cats. Through our Shelter to Forever Home program, we rescue and rehabilitate using the "3-3-3 rule" (3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn routine, 3 months to feel home). Within one to three days of intake, our cats have wellness exams and are treated for any injuries they may have. Once healthy, our cats are fully vaccinated and are spayed or neutered. When rescued, our cats are in different emotional and physical stages, some adjust very quickly (1+ month) while others are fearful, confused and/or have been traumatized and require more time (6+ months) to adjust. Our cats are placed for adoption only when they have made the emotional transition from fear and confusion to safety and calm/comfort.
