About Us
Paws and Stripes empowers Veterans and their families through life-changing dog training and mental health services. Our flagship Veteran Service Dog Program pairs shelter dogs with Veterans for a year-long journey, transforming them into certified service dog teams. This process helps Veterans and shelter dogs regain confidence, purpose, and reintegration into their communities. Through our partnership with the Last Chance Prison Program at Western New Mexico Correctional Facility, shelter dogs receive foundational training while inmates develop life skills, empathy, and responsibility—reducing recidivism and fostering positive change. Donations through Chewy directly support the shelter dogs housed and trained at the correctional facility, providing food, toys, training supplies, and medical care.
