About Us

Rescues ON85TH, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded on December 22, 2021, following a chance encounter with a stray—now named Kurt Russell. Based in Birmingham, Alabama, we proudly serve Jefferson County and operate as a volunteer-driven organization. We provide critical support to low-income individuals, the elderly, veterans, and victims of domestic violence—especially those residing in shelters with their companion animals—who are struggling to care for their furry family members due to financial hardship. Our mission is to: Provide food and essential supplies for cats and dogs in our community; Promote education on the safety and well-being of companion animals; Rehome lost animals when no family can be located; Rescue, rehabilitate, and find safe, loving homes for surrendered and abandoned animals. At RESCUES ON 85TH, we are committed to preserving the bond between individuals and their companion animals through compassion, support, and action.
