About Us
Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society (GMHS) is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of companion animals in our community and beyond. Each year, we provide shelter, medical care, enrichment, and love to thousands of pets while helping them find safe, loving homes. Our work extends far beyond adoption. GMHS supports families in need through our Pet Pantry, partners with other shelters and rescues to save more lives, and offers foster, volunteer, humane education, and community outreach programs. We are committed to treating every animal as an individual and giving them the time, care, and resources they need along their journey home. Donations from our Chewy Wish List directly support the pets in our care by providing essential supplies used every day, from food and treats to enrichment, cleaning supplies, and other necessities.
