Heart Dog Harbor is a modern dog rescue based in Northern California, built on the belief that dogs deserve better. We provide a safe place for dogs to land, decompress, and receive thoughtful care and training before finding homes that truly fit. Our approach combines compassion with structure. Every dog is given the time, stability, and individualized support they need to succeed, while we work to create a system that also supports the people behind the rescue — from volunteers and fosters to adopters and community partners. Founded by Katie Alford and Caysen Russo, and shaped by hands-on experience and training from Best Friends Animal Society, Heart Dog Harbor is designed for long-term impact.
